FOR YOUR INFORMATION

CHILDREN’S BULLETINS are available for ages 3-6 and 7-12.  They contain fun, age- appropriate activities related to today’s worship.  The bulletins, along with pencils or crayons, can be found on the table in the Narthex, or by asking an usher for assistance.

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is Susie Belknap. Wearing a yellow carnation, she will be available in the Narthex to hear your concerns after the service. Stop by and say hello.

THE FLOWERS IN THE SANCTUARY TODAY are given by Edward & Joyce Matthews in honor of the 40th year of the Preschool.

THE DEACON BOARD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR JOYTIME TODAY. During the summer months our Preschool – Grade 6 children gather after the word for children in Rooms 101-102 for Joytime instead of Sunday School. The curriculum is based on a rotation system with the story, craft, music and snack relating to a different theme every 4 weeks. All committees of the church are assigned a week.

BOY SCOUT GARAGE SALE ANOTHER SUCCESS! This sale brought in over $9,400.00 before expenses. Way to go guys! A big thank you goes to all the scouts and their parents for setting up and taking down in such a timely manner.

CHECK OUT THE PATIO! For those of you who didn’t know we had a patio, it is accessible through the Parlor. The drains have been repaired and the surface has been resealed and painted to give the appearance of a tile floor. The Boy Scouts will be doing demonstrations out there during our Open House/Fair on September 11.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE will meet Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room.

FOOD SUNDAY is September 4 and this month’s donations will go to Neighborhood Services. They have indicated a special need for the following: canned meats, stew, hash, pasta, soup, canned vegetables and fruits, and personal care items like deodorant, tooth paste and brushes, shampoo, diapers, baby food. Please place items along with your receipts in the grocery carts in the Narthex. There is an envelope on the front of the cart for any checks or cash donations.

ETHEL IS STILL LOOKING! For what you ask? Three more ushers for Sunday morning services. You only serve one Sunday a month, a couple or two to tally up the food from FOOD Sunday and deliver it to the Food Pantry. This is done any day after the first Sunday of each month and we donate to three different pantries. A sign up sheet is in the church office. Serve unto the Lord.

PRESCHOOL STARTS SOON AND WE NEED YOUR HELP! Parking lot attendants are needed for the upcoming year. The parents of the preschoolers really appreciate your being there to make sure their children are kept safe. The work is not hard but the rewards are great. Do your part. A sign up sheet is in the church office.

“FOR EVERYTHING, A SEASON” The women of Overbrook and their friends are invited Saturday morning, September 17th at 10:00 a.m. in the Church Parlor for a friendly conversation with Rev. Linda McClanahan on the new Horizons study “For Everything, A Season.” Coffee and muffins will be served.

SAVE THE DATE!! The Stewardship Dinner will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. A concert will follow! We hope to see everyone there!
