BIBLE STUDY—BOOK of JOB Eugene Peterson states in The Message: “Job suffered. His name is synonymous with
suffering. He asked, Why? Why me? And he put his questions to God.” Like Job,
we suffer in health and in circumstances of family and friendships. Like Job, we have ideas about God’s
control. Like Job, we hear friends’
opinions of why we suffer. Rev. Leety
leads exploration of Job, Sunday mornings 9-10, Jan. 29 – Feb. 26, 2006.
THE
CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe—The movie is currently showing in theatres. Anticipating
the film of C. S. Lewis’s book, publishers are releasing 170 books in 60
countries before Christmas. Consider
reading Mere Christianity, The Four Loves, The Screwtape Letters or
giving them as gifts.

the1930’s when the PCUS began an offering to supplement
inadequate retirement income and provide supplemental medical insurance for
former ministers, missionaries, church workers, and their families. In the late
1940’s that became the Joy Gift. In 1989 the offering was renamed the Christmas
Joy Offering, and in 1991 the 203rd General Assembly changed the
distribution of funds to 50 percent to the Board of Pensions and 50 percent to
the Presbyterian racial ethnic schools and colleges.
