TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is wearing a yellow carnation and will be available in the Narthex to hear your concerns after the service. Stop by and say hello.

THE YOUTH FELLOWSHIP GROUPS WILL MEET TONIGHT TO TALK ABOUT THE FLORIDA MISSION TRIP.       We will meet in Fellowship Hall around 5:45 p.m. for dinner. After dinner we will discuss details of the trip. Parents and interested adults are welcome to join us. We will be finished by 8:00 p.m. NEXT WEEK: 4TH night.

MEN’S PRAYER BREAKFAST meets this Wednesday, February 23 at 7:30 a.m. at Scottie McBean’s. Even if you have never attended all men are always welcome.

THE WEDNESDAY EVENING LENTEN SERIES - Dr. Walter Bouman will be our featured speaker with discussion about Jesus’s holiest traditions such as The Creed, Holy Communion, Baptism, The Lord’s Prayer, and the Ten Commandments. Bring friends from other churches with you. If you need a ride, be sure to call the church. Don’t miss this marvelous opportunity!

TEACHER APPRECIATION BREAKFAST will be Sunday, February 27, 2005 in Fellowship Hall beginning at 9:30 a.m. All teachers of children, youth and adults are invited to attend. In place of Sunday School, the youth will be “entertaining” the children in the area near the stage. Parents should send their children there at 9:30 if not in choir.

ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING will be held February 27, 2005 immediately following the worship service. We will elect an Elder; view the work of 2004 and review the Pastor’s terms of call. Volunteers of the year will be announced. Hope you can join us.

THE NEXT 4TH NIGHT TAIZE WORSHIP SERVICE IS FEBRUARY 27. During Lent why not try a new style of worshiping which is led by Rev. Jon Siehl. It is truly a meditative and peaceful experience. The Faith and Ficton group will be discussing The Spiral Staircase. The L.I.F.T. group will be watching a video on the life of the Apostle Paul and discussing Colossians. Crafts will be provided for the children by Susie Belknap.

MALAWI/OVERBROOK PEDIATRICIAN FUND PARTNERSHIP.

Overbrook is on the way to an exciting new Partnership! Embangweni Hospital is a hospital of the CCAP (Church of Central Africa Presbyterian) in the northern region of Malawi in East/Central Africa. We are planning to help sponsor a Malawi doctor for a pediatrics residency in South Africa. You can be a part of this exciting partnership. Read about it in the next Overbrook World.

ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE? Several groups in the church are accepting the group challenge to get everyone to read The Purpose Driven Life. If your group has 10 or more members in it like the Deacons or Session, you will be rewarded if you can get 75% of your members to complete the task. The deadline for getting it read is April 17.

A NEW ADULT EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY WILL BEGIN March 6 through April 17. The Purpose Driven Life will be discussed for six weeks from 8:45 – 9:45 a.m. before the Sunday morning worship service. There will be no class on Easter Sunday, March 27. Many of you have begun reading it and this is your chance to share it with others. Please read the material ahead of time up to Purpose #1. Please let Sandy Powell know if you are interested in joining this class or sign up on the list in the office.

SPECIAL LENTEN MUSIC. Overbrook’s own Chancel Choir with orchestra will be performing Handel’s Messiah including the Hallelujah Chorus during the worship service on Sunday, March 13, 2005. Numerous members of the congregation have joined the choir in singing this wonderful music.

The dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. Appetizers will be served in the Narthex and Dinner will be served in Fellowship Hall.
