FOR YOUR INFORMATION

CHILDREN’S BULLETINS are available for ages 3-6 and 7-12.  They contain fun, age- appropriate activities related to today’s worship.  The bulletins, along with pencils or crayons, can be found on the table in the Narthex, or by asking an usher for assistance.

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON The Concerned Deacon wears a yellow carnation and will be available in the Narthex to hear your concerns after the service. Stop by and say hello.

INQUIRERS’ CLASS CONTINUES! If you are interested in joining our church family you are invited to meet in the Library at 9:00 a.m. for four consecutive Sundays to learn about Overbrook. New members will be received into the congregation on February 6, 2005.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY CONTINUES. A study is led of Second Isaiah chapters 40-55, throughout January, ending February 6. Come as your schedule allows.

THE CROSSOVER YOUTH are ushering today and will not meet this evening. Make plans to attend our Super Bowl Party on February 6.

ESTIMATE OF GIVING CARDS are in the pew racks.  If during the course of the year your circumstances, or life or faith experience, change and you would like to commit time, energy or money in new ways or additional ways, fill out the card and put it in the offering plate or give it to a concerned deacon, listening elder or pastor.

FOOD SUNDAY IS NEXT SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 6. This month’s contributions will go to N.N.E.M.A.P (Near Northeast Emergency Material Assistance Program). They have made a special request for the following items: Canned soups, vegetables, beef stew and tuna fish; flour, dry beans, toilet paper, baby cereal and formula. Grocery carts will be in the Narthex for your food donations. If you forget your food but still want to make a donation, there will be an envelope attached to the cart for your cash or checks. Thank you for your support.

The Wednesday Evening Lenten Series begins on February 9. Rev. Leety and Jean Williams will lead a tour of our stained glass windows that approach topics that Dr. Walter Bouman will address on succeeding Wednesdays. Because Jesus is raised, we have the holy practices of The Creed, Holy Communion, Baptism, The Lord’s Prayer, and the Ten Commandments. Dr. Bouman, from Trinity Seminary, will go into depth about how these tools of the Holy Spirit make us more Christlike. To sign up for soup-making, set up, clean up, etc. refer to the poster in the Narthex. If you need a ride, be sure to call Sandy Powell at 451-1830. For children in lower elementary grades, the Faith Weavers curriculum will be led by Susie Belknap. Don’t miss this marvelous opportunity to hear Dr. Bouman speak. Bring your friends along.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for the Wednesday Evening Lenten Series to do set up at 5:30 p.m. and clean up at 7:00 p.m. each Wednesday. We also need one more soup maker. Please sign up in the Narthex on the Lenten poster.

THE NEXT GENERATION group is currently planning its February outing to be held Saturday, February 12th. This one is adults only – Dinner at LaScala’s restaurant. Childcare will be provided at the church by the Crossover Youth (donations to go towards their summer mission project). Children may be dropped off at Overbrook between 6 and 6:30 p.m. (Pizza and drinks will be served) with adults to meet at LaScala at 7:00 p.m. for dinner.
