FOR YOUR INFORMATION

CHILDREN’S BULLETINS are available for ages 3-6 and 7-12.  They contain fun, age- appropriate activities related to today’s worship.  The bulletins, along with pencils or crayons, can be found on the table in the Narthex, or by asking an usher for assistance.

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is Lynne Hobstetter. Wearing a yellow carnation, she will be available in the Narthex to hear your concerns after the service. Stop by and say hello.

PLEASE WELCOME LINDA MCCLANAHAN TO OUR STAFF. The Reverend Linda McClanahan begins a new ministry here at Overbrook as one of our Parish Associates. She will be serving us by making visitation calls as well as teaching a class on Ephesians in the fall. You may have noticed her husband Steven, singing in the choir and their daughter Susan was in our last inquirers’ class. If you have a need or concern and would like Linda to pay you a visit, please call the church office.

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS TODAY in Bill Leety’s office from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. and again 11:30 – 12:00. Especially during the summer months it is important to have your blood pressure checked often.

FOOD SUNDAY CONTRIBUTIONS. Last Sunday our monthly contributions went to Neighborhood Services. We donated $414.61 in food to this worthy cause. Please know that your support is greatly appreciated. Our grocery counters are requesting that you leave the register tape with the food to make it easier to tabulate our donations.

GIFTS FOR TEACHERS TO BE PICKED UP.  Any Sunday School teacher or teacher of Adult Education that was not present during last week’s worship service can pick up their gift from the Christian Education Committee in the church office.

MEN’S PRAYER BREAKFAST will meet at 7:30 p.m. on June 15 at Scottie MacBean’s.

All men are welcome.

BIBLE STUDY ON THE BOOK OF GENESIS TO BEGIN JUNE 19. The week following the conclusion of the class on the Book of Revelation, Jon Siehl will begin a study of Genesis on Sunday mornings from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the South Parlor. The class begins on June 19 and runs throughout July. A sign-up sheet is in the church office.

NEW BEGINNINGS, a group for all singles, will meet Sunday, June 19 in the South Parlor for a potluck luncheon, immediately following the worship service.

AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP CLASS. The Presbyterian Church has created a special membership category for members of a Presbyterian Church who for one reason or another cannot regularly attend their church, and who now attend another church. This may happen when church members move into a retirement community, move temporarily to care for an ailing relative, or have a temporary job reassignment. Affiliate membership permits the individual to retain membership ties with his or her “home” Presbyterian Church, while formalizing their relationship with the church of attendance. If you are interested in exploring affiliate membership with Overbrook, please contact the church office.

“DONUTS WITH DAD”. The Christian Education Committee would like to remind all children and their Dads, Grandpas, Uncles, etc. to attend “Donuts with Dad” on Sunday, June 19th at 9:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. There will be a sign-up sheet in the office. This is also the first day of Joytime.

JOYTIME BEGINS JUNE 19. During the summer months our Preschool – Grade 6 children gather after the word for children in Rooms 101-102 for Joytime instead of Sunday School. The curriculum is based on a rotation system with the story, craft, music and snack relating to a different theme every 4 weeks. All committees of the church are assigned a week. We begin with the Worship Committee.

LOOK TO THE WEB. Daily scriptures and prayers can be found on our website www.overbrookchurch.org. The following members have volunteered to write the prayers for June: Joan Plankell, Carol Bessey and Dan Lane. If you are interested in volunteering for this task, please contact Bill Leety.

4TH NIGHT TAIZE WORSHIP will be on June 26 starting at 7:00 p.m. As this is the last one until September, there will be no dinner served that night.
