FOR YOUR INFORMATION

CHILDREN’S BULLETINS are available for ages 3-6 and 7-12.  They contain fun, age- appropriate activities related to today’s worship.  The bulletins, along with pencils or crayons, can be found on the table in the Narthex, or by asking an usher for assistance.

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is Scott Lemon. Wearing a yellow carnation, he will be available in the Narthex to hear your concerns after the service. Stop by and say hello.

THE WELLNESS COMMITTEE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR JOYTIME TODAY. During the summer months our Preschool – Grade 6 children gather after the word for children in Rooms 101-102 for Joytime instead of Sunday School. The curriculum is based on a rotation system with the story, craft, music and snack relating to a different theme every 4 weeks. All committees of the church are assigned a week.

BIBLE STUDY ON THE BOOK OF GENESIS CONTINUES. Jon Siehl will lead a study of Genesis on Sunday mornings from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the South Parlor. The class will run throughout July. Come as your schedule allows.

LISTENING ELDER FOR JUNE is Myra Dull. She will be available for “listening” in the Narthex after the worship service today. Feel welcome to convey to her any matter in our congregations’ life that you would like to have passed on to the Session.

4TH NIGHT TAIZE WORSHIP TONIGHT. Dinner will not be served tonight. We will begin with worship at 6:30 p.m. Jon Siehl will lead the worship service accompanied by Joyce Beauvais on the piano and Suzanne Hayes on the violin. Both the LIFT and Faith & Fiction Groups will continue to discuss the books from last month.

MEN’S BREAKFAST GROUP will meet at 7:30 a.m. this Wednesday, July 29, at Scottie McBean’s in Clintonville. All men are welcome.

FOOD SUNDAY IS JULY 3. Our donations for this month will go to Community Resources Center. They have requested boxed meals, canned meats, soups, juices and personal care items. If you forget your food, but would like to make a contribution, there is an envelope attached to the grocery cart for your cash or checks.

NO OPEN SHELTER DUTIES FOR JULY 3 as this is a National Holiday. New Beginnings will be making the sandwiches next on July 31.

MAKE PLANS NOW TO ATTEND THE YANKEE DOODLE PICNIC. Enjoy great food, fellowship, prizes, crafts, and not to mention fireworks seen from the church parking lot beginning at 6:00 p.m. on July 4, 2005. Bring your own place setting and a dish to share. Drinks will be provided by the Fellowship Committee.

SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM. Three years ago the Clintonville Community Resource Center requested the volunteer services of neighboring churches to provide free hot lunches to those children who received free lunches during the school year. Overbrook is responsible for serving the lunches the week of July 5 – 8 at the site on Broadmeadows Blvd. We are asking for four or five volunteers to work July 5-8. If you would like to make a small donation to help cover the purchase of sandwich and snack supplies purchased by the church volunteers for 40/50 children, it would be very much appreciated. To volunteer for service or make a donation, please contact the church. We welcome the help from the young people in the church as we could use at least one more man to assist in case we have to set up the tents. Since Monday is a holiday, Overbrook’s week is a four-day week this summer. At most it only requires about 2 hours per day and any day you select will be a great help and you truly will enjoy spending the time with these little children.

AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP CLASS. The Presbyterian Church has created a special membership category for members of a Presbyterian Church who for one reason or another cannot regularly attend their church, and who now attend another church. This may happen when church members move into a retirement community, move temporarily to care for an ailing relative, or have a temporary job reassignment. Affiliate membership permits the individual to retain membership ties with his or her “home” Presbyterian Church, while formalizing their relationship with the church of attendance. If you are interested in exploring affiliate membership with Overbrook, please contact the church office.
