CHILDREN’S BULLETINS are available for ages 3-6 and 7-12.  They contain fun, age- appropriate activities related to today’s worship.  The bulletins, along with pencils or crayons, can be found on the table in the Narthex, or by asking an usher for assistance.

 

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is Carolyn Dietrich. Wearing a yellow carnation, she will be available in the Narthex to hear your concerns after the service. Stop by and say hello.

 

 

 

BIBLE STUDY ON THE BOOK OF REVELATION CONTINUES! Reverend Leety will lead the study. It will be held on Sunday mornings in the South Parlor at 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. The dates remaining are May 29, June 5, 12. Please sign-up in the church office.

THE PENTECOST OFFERING TODAY supports mission with children at risk, youth, and young adults, through the following ministries: Congregational ministries on behalf of children at risk (40%); General Assembly ministries with youth and young adults (25%); Advocacy at the denominational level on behalf of children at risk (10%) and PC (USA) Young Adult Volunteer opportunities (25%). Pentecost Offering envelopes are in the pew racks.

DEACON’S TO SERVE HOME COMMUNION.  If you have volunteered to serve communion today, please meet in the kitchen downstairs for a brief refresher course and

your assignments. Appointments have been made for 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. There will be 5 teams of 2 deacons going out.

 

NEW BEGINNINGS, a group for all singles, will meet today in the South Parlor for a potluck luncheon, immediately following the worship service. Even though you may have forgotten to prepare a dish, you are welcome to attend.

 

CROSSOVER will meet at 5:45 p.m. for dinner and then go upstairs for game night. Bring a snack, your favorite game and even a friend.

DR. JOHN GREEN TO SPEAK AT ADULT FORUM ON MAY 22. John C. Green is the Director of the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics at the University of Akron, a bipartisan research and teaching institute dedicated to the nuts and bolts of practical politics. Dr. Green is widely known as an observer of Ohio and national politics, is frequently quoted in the media including the Columbus Dispatch and NPR, in the areas of elections, campaign finance and party politics. The editor of several books and newsletters, Dr. Green is perhaps best known for his work on religion and politics. He is co-author of The Bully Pulpit: the Politics of Protestant Clergy (1997) and Religion and the Culture Wars: Dispatches from the Front. Dr. Green’s topic for Adult Forum on May 22, 2005 is “Evangelicals and Politics”.

 

CALLING ALL GRADUATES. The Coordinator of Christian Education is trying to compile a list of those who will be graduating this year. This includes High School seniors, undergraduates, and those receiving advanced degrees. We will recognize these scholars during the worship service on June 12, 2005. There is a sign-up sheet in the church office.

 

CPR FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY will be offered at Overbrook on Tuesday, May 31st from 6:00 – 9:30 p.m. A limited number of people will be able to participate. The cost is $10.00 per person. Please sign-up in the church office. If you have any questions, please call Sue Mooney at 268-7207. This is a great way to learn the basics of CPR.

 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW! The 2005 Rose Luncheon will be held June 2, beginning at 12:00 noon in Fellowship Hall. Tickets will be on sale May 15, 22 and 29 in the Narthex. The cost remains at $5.00. There will be good food and plenty of great fellowship. The program will feature vocalist, Johnny Steiner. Hope to see you there.
