PARENTING BROCHURES are available in the Narthex. They cover such topics as bullying, sleep problems, whining, developing patience, and more. These brochures were provided by Dr. Elaine Gustafson, from Riverside’s Elizabeth Blackwell Center. A book recommended by Dr. Gustafson, entitled The Family Virtues Guide, by Dr. Linda Popov is also on display and can be ordered upon request. It illustrates how to develop the fruit of the Spirit in children and grandchildren. It covers the values of caring, compassion, consideration, generosity, humility, justice, love, respect, self-discipline, trust, unity, etc.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

CHILDREN’S BULLETINS are available for ages 3-6 and 7-12.  They contain fun, age- appropriate activities related to today’s worship.  The bulletins, along with pencils or crayons, can be found on the table in the Narthex, or by asking an usher for assistance.

TODAY IS F.O.O.D. SUNDAY ! This month’s contributions will be donated to Community Resources Center. They indicate the following needs: canned meats, soup, vegetables, bottles of juice and personal care products. Please place items along with register tape in the grocery carts in the Narthex. If you forget food, but still want to make a donation, there is an envelope attached to the cart for cash or checks.

COMMUNION TODAY! The loose offering on Communion Sundays is designated for the work of the Deacons.

TRINITY CHURCH LUNCH PREP TODAY! The Board of Deacons are responsible for preparing this month’s lunches. Please meet in the kitchen immediately following worship to make sandwiches, bag chips, cookies and drinks for delivery Monday morning. Donations of cookies and fresh fruit would be helpful.

CIRCLE THREE MEETS TODAY in the South Parlor immediately following the worship service. Rev. Linda McClanahan will speak on the history of the Presbyterian Church.

BIBLE STUDY ON THE PARABLES CONTINUES.  The class meets on Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in Room 32. Each class is a separate parable so if you haven’t come for all the classes, it is ok. Classes run through October 31.

THE INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK is now in their new facility but this doesn’t mean they no longer need volunteers to help out. Overbrook is still in partnership with IHN even though we will no longer host the families here. Please check out the bulletin board across from the Parlor to see what you can do to help.

THE MEN’S BREAKFAST GROUP meets Wednesday, October 5 at 7:30 a.m. at Scottie McBeans in Clintonville. All men are welcome.

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS will be taken in Bill Leety’s office next Sunday from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 – 12:00 noon.

ADD A COUPLE I meets on October 8 in the South Parlor for a potluck dinner.

FALL STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN and kick-off of the Capital Campaign will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. The catered lunch is free, but reservations are required. Following lunch there will be a presentation of the campaign and a concert of solo hand bell music featuring Stephen Smith. See insert for RSVP form. Hope to see you there!

YOUR CAR IS DIRTY! Bring it next Sunday, October 9 and let Overbrook Youth fix your problem. The Youth will wash cars from 8:45 a.m. until noon in the church parking lot. Leave your key with us. Your car will be ready after the worship service. We will accept donations. This car wash supports three children, Wendy in Guatemala through Christian Children’s Fund and Steven and Martin in Kenya through Rafiki. Steven lives in the Rafiki orphanage for children whose parents died of AIDS, while Martin lives with extended family. Youth, remember to wear car-wash clothes, and to arrive at 8:15 a.m. for a brief worship service.

FLU IMMUNIZATIONS will NOT be given at Overbrook this fall. The Wellness Committee will keep you informed of near by flu immunization clinics. Indications at this point are that your family doctor will have ample vaccines. Questions, contact Sue Mooney.

CROSSOVER will meet tonight at 5:45 p.m. We will start with dinner in Fellowship Hall. After dinner we will go up to the Senior High room to meet with Linda and Susan McClanahan. We will explore possible directions for our monthly bible studies. This will be a time to get to know each other. Remember to bring a friend. We will de done by 8:00 p.m.

ATTENTION FLORIDA MISSION TRIP SHAREHOLDERS. Come to the Shareholders meeting on Sunday, October 16 at 6:30 p.m. We will show slides from our trip to Punta Gorda, Florida. You will hear from actual participants of the trip. You may have the chance to rub elbows with an Ohio Angel. There will be refreshments and a time for questions and answers. All are welcome.
