FOR YOUR INFORMATION

CHILDREN’S BULLETINS are available for ages 3-6 and 7-12.  They contain fun, age- appropriate activities related to today’s worship.  The bulletins, along with pencils or crayons, can be found on the table in the Narthex, or by asking an usher for assistance.

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is wearing a yellow carnation, she will be available in the Narthex to hear your concerns after the service. Stop by and say hello.

A NEW STUDY OF THE BOOK OF EPHESIANS CONTINUES. Rev. Linda McClanahan leads a four-week discussion of this fascinating letter. The study meets on Sunday mornings at 9:00 and will repeat the following Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.  Come join us for an interesting journey into the world of the early church.

4TH NIGHT TAIZE SERVICE TONIGHT beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by the discussion groups. There will be no dinner prior to the service although the Crossover group will meet for pizza before their meeting. The Faith and Fiction group will be discussing Virtues of Aging by Jimmy Carter, and the Horizons Bible Study group will be led by Rev. Linda McClanahan.

CROSSOVER will meet in Fellowship Hall for dinner around 5:45 p.m. After dinner we may join the Taize Service and then go to the Senior High room to hang out, or watch a video. October 30 the youth are responsible for ushering for the worship service. Please meet in the office by 9:45 a.m.

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP groups will be selling Christmas wreaths again this year. We will begin taking orders on Sunday, October 23, before and after the service. We will be taking orders through November 6th. Look for the table in the Narthex. Wreaths will sell for $17.00 and will be available for pick up starting Sunday, November 20. The wreaths are approximately 20 inches in diameter and come with a red bow and three pine cones. The profits from the wreath sale will go toward the 2006 Mission Trip and other CrossOver activities. You may order as many wreaths as you wish. The deadline for ordering is November 6, 2005. The youth and advisors thank you for your continuing support.

A CAREGIVER RESOURCE FAIR is taking place October 25 from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. at 1000 N. Hague Avenue. This fair is sponsored by Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, Heritage Day Health Centers, Mount Carmel Senior Services and VistaCare Hospice. Some of the questions that will be answered are: Where can I get services to help my parents stay independent? How do I take care of myself while caring for others? and What equipment would make care safer/easier?

WHY DO BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE? Really, why do bad things happen to anybody? Announcing another fascinating discussion for the women of the church, Saturday morning, October 29th at 10:00 in the Parlor. Rev. Linda McClanahan is leading and available for your questions.

POPCORN, ANYONE? The Cub Scouts of Pack 74 are having their annual fund-raiser. They will be in the Narthex selling popcorn through November 6 with the exception of October 16, as they will be on a campout. The popcorn is great and the boys appreciate your support. They even offer free samples.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN ARE? For safety reasons, children can not roam the church during the Sunday morning service. They need to be with a parent or other adult at all times. Childcare will be provided after the “Word for the Children” for ages 3 through 4th grade. Children 5th grade and older remain with their parents for the remainder of the service.

ALL SAINTS’ SUNDAY is October 31. Names of members of Overbrook or Overbrook families who have died since last November will be read during the worship service. If you would like a name read either write it on the friendship pad or contact the church office.

FALL WALK AT JOHN BELTZ. The JBRC Committee is hosting a Fall Walk on November 6, 2005 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Please join them for a beautiful walk through the woods, have some fun, food and fellowship. There will be a campfire, hot dogs, s’mores and cider. They will also provide a hayride so that everyone can see all of the beautiful things God has made.
