HYMNS ARE FOR EVERYONE! Adult Forum during the five Sunday’s of October, from 9:00 – 10:00 in the Parlor. Some of the questions we will discuss are: Where do our hymns come from? Who writes them? Why do the Psalms so often tell us to sing a NEW song to the Lord? Which is more important, the words or the music of a hymn? Why don’t we sing the “Amen” anymore? What are some of your experiences with hymns and hymnody? Come and share your thoughts.

F.O.O.D. SUNDAY IS OCTOBER 2. This month’s contributions will be donated to Community Resources Center. They indicate the following needs: canned meats, soup, vegetables, bottles of juice and personal care products. Please place items along with register tape in the grocery carts in the Narthex. If you forget food, but still want to make a donation, there is an envelope attached to the cart for cash or checks.

THE SACRAMENT OF COMMUNION will be served on October 2, World Communion Sunday during the worship service. The Peacemaking Offering will also be given.

DEACONS RESPONSIBLE FOR OPEN SHELTER OCTOBER 2. Please meet in the kitchen next Sunday immediately following worship to make sandwiches, bag chips, cookies and drinks for delivery Monday morning. Donations of cookies and fresh fruit would be helpful.

CIRCLE THREE meets on October 2 in the South Parlor immediately following the worship service. Rev. Linda McClanahan will speak on the history of the Presbyterian Church.

PARENTING BROCHURES are available in the Narthex. They cover such topics as bullying, sleep problems, whining, developing patience, and more. These brochures were provided by Dr. Elaine Gustafson, from Riverside’s Elizabeth Blackwell Center. A book recommended by Dr. Gustafson, entitled The Family Virtues Guide, by Dr. Linda Popov is also on display and can be ordered upon request. It illustrates how to develop the fruit of the Spirit in children and grandchildren. It covers the values of caring, compassion, consideration, generosity, humility, justice, love, respect, self-discipline, trust, unity, etc.
