CARILLON, WELCOME, REGISTRATION, ANNOUNCEMENTS

CHORAL INVOCATION # 82                                                     O Lamb of God Most Holy!

*CALL TO WORSHIP                                                                       on Psalm 95: 1-7 (BCW)

Leader:   Come, let us sing to the Lord:

let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.

People:   Let us come before God’s presence with thanksgiving

and raise a loud shout to the Lord with psalms.

Leader:    For the Lord is a great God, and a great Sovereign above all gods.

People:   The Lord holds the caverns of the earth,

and sustains the heights of the hills.

Leader:   The sea belongs to God, who made it,

whose hands have molded the dry land.

People:    Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,

and kneel before the Lord our Maker.

Leader:    For the Lord is our God,

and we are the people of God’s pasture and the sheep of God’s hand.

Oh, that today you would hearken to God’s voice!

*LIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE

*PROCESSIONAL HYMN #

*CONFESSION OF WHO WE ARE                                          from Psalm 95: 8-11 (BCW)

Leader:  God says:

Harden not your hearts, as your ancestors did in the wilderness,

                   …when they tempted me.

They put me to the test, though they had seen my works.

People:  Forty years long I detested that generation and said,

                  “This people are wayward in their hearts;

they do not know my ways”

Leader: So I swore in my wrath, “They shall not enter into my rest.”

Unison: Lord, protector and strength:

You guide us as sheep of your fold.

In your goodness sustain us, that our hearts may never be hardened

through unbelief of your holy Word,

but that we may serve you in true and living faith

and so enter your heavenly rest; through Jesus Christ.

(time for silent confession of our hard heartedness) Amen.
