*CALL TO WORSHIP                                                               Psalm 119: 105-112 (The Message)

Leader: By your words, Lord, I can see where I’m going;

      they throw a beam of light on my dark path.

People: I’ve committed myself and I’ll never turn back

      from living by your righteous order.

Everything’s falling apart on me, God;

     put me together again with your Word.

*LIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE

Leader: Festoon me with your finest sayings, God;

     teach me with your holy rules.

People: My life is as close as my own hands,

     but I don’t forget what you have revealed.

 The wicked do their best to throw me off track

     but I don’t swerve an inch from your course.

 I inherited your book on living; it’s mine forever-

     what a gift! And how happy it makes me!

I concentrate on doing exactly what you say—

     I always have and always will.

*HYMN # 327                                                                                  O Word of God Incarnate

*CONFESSION OF WHO WE ARE (unison}                                                on Psalm 119/wrl

Lord, we stray from the lighted paths and test the righteous orders.

                  We forget what we see and hear in Jesus Christ,

                  and allow the handsome wickedness in our culture

   to throw us off course, off justice, off mercy.

Forgive us. Restore our focus and concentration.

Put us back on track by the mercy of Jesus Christ.

                        (time for silent, personal confession)  Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF WHOSE WE ARE                                                     on Psalm 112/wrl

            Leader: God’s book on living includes not only righteous rules,

              but also generous forgiveness.

                          Remember what has been revealed in Jesus Christ—

 God’s love and mercy, pardon and peace.

            People: Thanks be to God.

*THE PEACE

Leader:  The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

            People:  Peace be with you.
