OPENING PRAYER (unison)                                                                                               wrl

Holy One--Ghost and God, Creator and Creature:

In creed we claim you show holiness in three persons.

In fact you come to us in many persons, some within this room now.

We Bless you for your lively and enlivening love for us

and your universe and its creatures,

in our brother Jesus, the Christ. Amen.

CONFESSION OF WHO WE ARE                          from Seasons of the Spirit Congregational Life

Leader: O God, Creator and lover of the universe,

we confess that we have sometimes

put out the light of joy in someone else

with an unkind word or a thoughtless act.

People: Forgive us, holy God.

Leader: We confess that we have sometimes

put poisons in the sky that hurt the air

and put litter in the earth that hurts the soil.

People:  Forgive us, holy God.

Leader: We confess that we have sometimes

taken more than our share from the bounty of the earth

and left others with less than they need.

People: Forgive us, holy God.

Leader: We confess that we have sometimes

driven the other creatures who share our world

out of their homes and habitats

or we have killed them needlessly.

People: Forgive us, holy God.

Leader: We confess that we have sometimes

made war with other human beings

or treated them badly because they differ from us.

People: Forgive us, holy God.

Leader: We confess that we have sometimes

not taken Sabbath time.

We have not paused to rest and be refreshed.

We have not trusted that you will provide what we need.

People: Forgive us, holy God.

ASSURANCE OF WHOSE WE ARE

Leader: God created us in God’s own image:

an image of love, of wisdom, of hope.

God came in human form to show us

that we can be holy people.

God’s own spirit gives us strength and guidance

to live the good news.

Response: Thanks be to God! Alleluia! Amen!

*RESPONSE # 576                                                                                            Gloria, Gloria
