*PRAYER ASKING GOD’S PRESENCE Psalm 123:1—3a (The
Message)
I look to you, heaven-dwelling God, look up to you for
help.
Like
servants, alert to their master’s commands,
like a maiden attending her lady,
We’re
watching and waiting, holding our breath,
Awaiting your word of mercy.
Mercy, God, mercy!
*PROCESSIONAL HYMN # 411 Arise,
Your Light Is Come!
*CONFESSION OF WHO WE ARE on
Matthew 25:14/wrl
Jesus
says, “God’s kingdom is as if a man, going on a journey, summoned his slaves
and entrusted his property to them; to one he gave five talents, to another
two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away.
God
of all the earth: you entrust what is
yours to us, your slaves,
each given charge over part of what’s yours.
Forgive
when we confuse what’s ours and what’s yours;
and when we forget you have given your image
to us as well;
or when we deny that something of you is us,
and in all others.
Make
us faithful slaves, O God,
servants who know our place before you,
and with fellow servants in whom you place trust.
(time for silent, personal confession) Amen.
*RESPONSE # 572 Lord, Have Mercy Upon Us
*ASSURANCE OF WHOSE WE ARE
We are slaves of the living, loving God, who demands
honesty.
As we face our failures, God offers forgiveness in Jesus
Christ.
Thanks
be to God.
*RESPONSE # 428 (vs. 5) We

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN PRAYER Reverend Jonathan C. Siehl
Creator God, you mint us in
your image. You press into our being a spirit that mirrors your Spirit. Give us
discernment to nurture impressions of spirit, to seek in the murky depths of
our being stirrings of the spirit…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. In generosity, we spend
a coin of the realm in your kingdom. Turn your Spirit in us loose in your
realm, that love may abound, Turn your Spirit in us loose in your kingdom here
and now, that generosity may abound. Free up your spirit of generosity in us, that
we may give our material wealth with abandon, for your kingdom in this church,
in this city, in this place. Amen.
