FOR YOUR INFORMATION

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is wearing a yellow carnation, she will be available in the Narthex after worship to hear your concerns.

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS TODAY in Bill Leety’s office from 10:00 – 10:30 and 11:30 – 12:00 noon.

HAVE YOU NOTICED the battery recycling station in the Narthex or the white plastic re-usable cups for coffee on Sunday mornings? These were donated by members of the Caring for God’s Creation group. The group would encourage Overbrook members to join them in learning ways to help keep our environment healthy and our congregation strong. Take a few moments to make a name tag so that fellow worshipers will have the opportunity to meet and learn new names. Name tags and pens are available in the Narthex.

SUMMER CHOIR BEGAN TODAY and will continue for the next two Sundays. Anyone 7th grade on up is welcome. We practice on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and sing at 10:30 a.m. Come give it a try.

WE SERVE THE YWCA FAMILY CENTER TODAY. Overbrook is responsible for the second Sunday of each month to prepare the dinner meal, serve it and provide fellowship for the homeless families of Columbus. Volunteers usually prepare stew at 2:00 p.m.; transport the meal at 5:00 p.m.; serve from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and return to Overbrook by 7:30 p.m. Coordinators are Jan Bundy & Connie Jump. You can also sign up for other food items needed on the sheets on the bulletin board across from the Parlor.

JOYTIME NEXT SUNDAY is the responsibility of the Nominating Committee. Someone will meet the children at the Sanctuary doors following the Word with Children and take them to Room 101 for a bible lesson, craft and snack.

THE LISTENING ELDER FOR AUGUST will be available for listening in the Narthex after the worship service next Sunday. Feel welcome to convey to her any matter in our congregation’s life that you would like to have passed on to the Session.

ANNUAL BOY SCOUT GARAGE SALE! Back by popular demand this event takes place August 19 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Get here early for the best bargains. If you have items you wish to donate to the sale you may bring them to the church starting August 14.

MEET OUR MISSIONARIES. The Mission Committee is pleased to announce that Overbrook has been selected to host an Ecumenical Mission Partner from India for a six week period beginning on October 6th. His name is Malin Dahanga, and he is an ordained minister with the Church of North India. While he is here, Pastor Dahanga will participate fully in the life of our church as a colleague in ministry. He will teach us about his country and region, provide a fresh perspective on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and challenge us to greater faithfulness in a world context. The Mission Committee is working to plan for his arrival. We will need to find housing, schedule social events and excursions, and arrange for meals and dinner parties. If you are willing to provide any of these services, please contact any member of the Mission Committee. Pastor Dahanga will be speaking at an upcoming Adult Forum – date to be announced.
