BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS TODAY in Bill Leety’s office from 10:00 – 10:30 and 11:30 – 12:00 noon.

 

POINSETTIAS FOR SALE! Poinsettias will decorate the Sanctuary again this year. If you wish to order plants, the signup sheet is now in the church office. Purchase them in memory or in honor of someone special this holiday season. The cost remains $8.00 and the order deadline is December 13. The plants can be taken from the Sanctuary after the 6:30 p.m. Christmas Eve Service.

 

WE SERVE DINNER AT THE YWCA FAMILY CENTER TODAY. Sign-up sheets are posted across from the Parlor. Check to see if there are any open slots of items we still need.Volunteers begin making stew at 2:00 p.m.; the adults from the Hidden Generation are helping to serve this month and we ask that you gather here at 5:00 p.m. to transport the meal; serve from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and return to Overbrook by 7:30 p.m.

 

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP GOES CHRISTMAS SHOPPING TODAY!  Meet in the Narthex following worship to car-pool to Easton for lunch and shopping.  Remember to buy books for students of Colerain School. Return to Overbrook by 4 p.m.

 

SOMEONE HAS BEEN IN THE COOKIE JAR AGAIN! Overbrook is responsible for Trinity lunches on December 31. We need cookies! While you are baking holiday cookies, make a little extra and put them in the freezer downstairs marked Open Shelter. The cookie monster thanks you.

 

THE MEN’S BREAKFAST GROUP meets this Wednesday, December 13 at 7:30 a.m. at Thatcher’s Pub in Clintonville. All men are welcome.

 

PRESCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS for this year are on Wednesday, December 13, and Thursday, December 14, at 9:00 a.m. Come and get the Christmas spirit.

OVERBROOK IS FEATURED in the Ohio Health Stewardship Newsletter. For decades, Overbrook has been a cornerstone of the Clintonville community in north central Columbus. Our Wellness Ministry Program provides support to the local community in many ways including transition from the hospital to their home, physician referrals and providing patients with spiritual or emotional support. Check out the article on the bulletin board in the Narthex.

 

NEW BEGINNINGS, a group for all singles will meet next Sunday, December 17 in the South Parlor for a potluck luncheon.

 

FESTIVAL OF CAROLS, LESSONS & POETRY NEXT SUNDAY, DEC. 17, 4 P.M. Neighbors and friends are invited to join the congregation for a vesper service of traditional Christmas scriptures, well-loved carols and anthems, and poetry. Bring a guest. Choirs and instrumentalists are directed by Sarah Shaffer, with Nancy Deeth on organ and piano. Child-care provided for infants & toddlers in the Nursery. Offering plates will be at the door for contributions. Join choirs and instrumentalists in celebration of the birth of Jesus.

 

OPEN SHELTER NEEDS HOLIDAY HELP. For the third straight year The Open Shelter with the help of Broad Street UMC, St. Andrews Catholic Church and Ad Farrow will be providing holiday HELP and HOPE for the homeless and marginally housed. We need your help in collecting: new sweatshirts & T-shirts (men’s, women’s and children’s – in all sizes!); toiletries (travel sized bars of soap, shampoos, lotions, toothpastes, shaving cream), toothbrushes, combs & brushes, women’s feminine items, disposable razors). If you would like to volunteer to help with this event, call Harry Yeprem at 614-222-2885.

 

HOME FOR CHRISTMAS? Overbrook’s post high school through twenty-somethings  gather for the second annual Home for the Holidays on Tuesday evening, December 26th at 7:00 p.m. Bring your Christmas spirit along with a friend, music CD’s or instruments and an hors d’oeuvre to share. Beverages will be provided.
