he will be available in the Narthex after worship to hear your concerns.

CHRISTMAS JOY
OFFERING. Presbyterians have long celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ by
giving generously to an Advent offering. The Christmas Joy Offering dates back to the1930’s when the PCUS began an
offering to supplement inadequate retirement income and provide supplemental
medical insurance for former ministers, missionaries, church workers, and their
families. In the late 1940’s that became the Joy Gift. In 1989 the offering was
renamed the Christmas Joy Offering, and in 1991 the 203rd General
Assembly changed the distribution of funds to 50 percent to the Board of
Pensions and 50 percent to the Presbyterian racial ethnic schools and colleges.
NEW
BEGINNINGS, a group for all singles
will meet in the South Parlor today immediately following the worship service, for
a potluck luncheon. Even though you may have forgotten to prepare a dish, you
are welcome to attend.
FESTIVAL OF CAROLS, LESSONS & POETRY
TONIGHT AT 4 P.M. Neighbors
and friends are invited to join the congregation for a vesper service of
traditional Christmas scriptures, well-loved carols and anthems, and poetry.
Bring a guest. Choirs and instrumentalists are directed by Sarah Shaffer, with
Nancy Deeth on organ and piano. Offering
plates will be at the door for contributions. Join choirs and instrumentalists
in celebration of the birth of Jesus.
YOUTH FELLOWSHIP TOURS THE ZOO LIGHTS. Following the Carols, Lessons and Poetry we
gather in the Narthex to carpool to the zoo to see the lights. We will return
to the church by 9:00 p.m.
HELPING HANDS NEEDED ON DECEMBER 22. The Mid Ohio Workers organization will be at Overbrook
from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on December 22 to pack holiday food boxes for
local families. If you have an hour or two to give on those days, please come
to the church to help out. Many helping hands are needed to assist with this
worthwhile project.
HOME FOR THE
HOLIDAYS? Overbrook’s college age
members (18-25-ish) gather for the second annual Home for the Holidays on
Tuesday evening, December 26th at 7:00 p.m. All should bring their
favorite board game, music CD’s and a snack to share. Beverages will be
provided. Be forewarned: a game of OSU Monopoly may even be played!
