FOR YOUR INFORMATION

CHILDREN’S BULLETINS are available for ages 3-6 and 7-12.  They contain fun, age- appropriate activities related to today’s worship.  The bulletins, along with pencils or crayons, can be found on the table in the Narthex, or by asking an usher for assistance.

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is waHHa earing a yellow carnation, she will be available in the Narthex after worship to hear your concerns.

THE 2006 FLOWER CHART is in the office, ready for members and friends of Overbrook to sign up to provide flowers on Sundays. Next Sunday is open.

BIBLE STUDY ON JOB BEGINS TODAY. Eugene Peterson states in The Message:  “Job suffered. His name is synonymous with suffering. He asked, Why? Why me? And he put his questions to God.” Like Job, we suffer in health and in circumstances of family and friendships.  Like Job, we have ideas about God’s control.  Like Job, we hear friends’ opinions of why we suffer.  Rev. Leety leads exploration of Job, Sunday mornings 9:00 -10:00 a.m., January 29 – February 26, 2006. Join in anytime.

INQUIRERS’ CLASS MISSING VIDEO: The video used for our new members’ class is “missing in action.” It was last seen in the library. The title is something like “We Presbyterians” and is in a black plastic case with a study guide inside. Please return this video to the church office. We currently have 7 people exploring membership here at Overbrook and look forward to welcoming them into the congregation on February 5, 2006. A reception will follow the worship service on that day.

OUR YOUTH ARE USHERING TODAY and therefore will not meet this evening for Fellowship. Next Sunday is the Super Bowl party. Look for more details to come.

NEW GENERATIONS FELLOWSHIP GROUP is responsible for preparing Trinity Lunches today. Meet in the kitchen to make sandwiches, bag cookies and chips and pack sacks.

THE FAITH & FICTION GROUP did not meet on 4th night but meets tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Wesley Glen #722 South to discuss “Booking Passage” by Thomas Lynch.

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS in Bill Leety’s office next Sunday from 10:00 – 10:30 and 11:30 – 12 noon.

NEXT SUNDAY IS F.O.O.D. SUNDAY. This month’s contributions go to NEEMAP and they have requested the following items: sugar, pork & beans, tuna, salt & pepper, kool-aid.

SESSION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TRINITY LUNCHES next Sunday, February 5. If you’d like to help, meet in the kitchen downstairs immediately following the worship service to make sandwiches, bag chips and cookies and pack lunch bags.

PER CAPITA APPORTIONMENT is the process used in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to meet the costs of a connectional church and the higher governing bodies. Overbrook Church pays the Per Capita for every member to help support the Presbytery of Scioto Valley, the Synod of the Covenant, and the General Assembly. If you can help Overbrook pay your Per Capita, please make a contribution to Overbrook for $25 per church member, indicating “Per Capita.” If you have pledge envelopes, there is a special envelope for this purpose.

THE OFFICE IS STILL LOOKING FOR THE FOLLOWING ANNUAL REPORTS:

Music Ministry, Parish Nurse, Chapel Class, Membership, Mission, Stewardship, and Nominating Committee, FOOD Sunday, and Interfaith Hospitality Network. E-mail them to lellett@overbrookchurch.org. as soon as possible.

TAIZE WORSHIP 4TH SUNDAY EACH MONTH 6:30-7:00 P.M. Join with worshipers from other congregations as well as fellow Overbrookers led by pastor/cantor Jon Siehl whose education and experience include travels to Taize, France. A copy of last summer’s Columbus Dispatch article written by the minister of music at St. John’s Evangelical Protestant Church, is posted on the bulletin board. It gives readers a feel for the distinctive style and growing popularity of Taize Worship. Next 4th Sunday is February 26, 2006.

LENT SERIES STARTS IN MARCH.  Have you noticed the Lent Series poster in the narthex? Ash Wednesday, March 1, will be here before you know it. “The Messiah in the Old Testament” promises to enhance our understanding of how the Old Testament describes the Messiah. We need volunteers for setup, soup making, cleanup and childcare. Check out the poster for details.
