9:00 A.M.  ADULT FORUM SERIES  A two week series on “Faith and Politics in Ohio

            March 12 – Editor for Dayton Daily News presents an “Overview on

                                Faith, Politics and the Governor’s Race in Ohio.”

 

            March 19 – Eric McFadden, Representing the Catholic Alliance. A catholic faith

         based group engaged in politics.

 

            March 26 & April 2 – A six week series on “Caring for Creation.”

                                 Fred Hitzhusen, Ph.D., Professor of Agricultural Economics

                                 at OSU, will open this series with an overview of the moral and

                                 economic implications of our care for God’s creation.

CHILDREN’S BULLETINS are available for ages 3-6 and 7-12.  They contain fun, age- appropriate activities related to today’s worship.  The bulletins, along with pencils or crayons, can be found on the table in the Narthex, or by asking an usher for assistance.

 

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is aHHa wearing a yellow carnation, she will be available in the Narthex after worship to hear your concerns.

 

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS TODAY in Bill Leety’s office from 10:30 – 11:30 and 11:30 – 12:00 noon.

 

OVERBROOK SERVES AT YWCA FAMILY CENTER TODAY! Overbrook is responsible for the second Sunday of each month to prepare the dinner meal, serve it and provide fellowship for the homeless families of Columbus. Volunteers usually prepare stew at 2:00 p.m.; transport the meal at 5:00 p.m.; serve from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and return to Overbrook by 8:00 p.m.

 

THE WOMEN OF OVERBROOK Coordinating Team meets March 15 at 2:30 p.m.

 

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP – BIBLE STUDY THIS EVENING. Meet in Fellowship Hall after choir for dinner at 5:45 p.m. After dinner, we go upstairs for some Bible study and discussion led by Rev. Linda McClanahan. We should be finished by 8:00 p.m.

 

THE WOMEN OF OVERBROOK are invited to the cluster meeting of the Presbyterian Women who will gather here at Overbrook on Saturday morning, March 18th. Registration and refreshments begin at 9:30 in the Parlor. Program will include sharing ideas for circles.

 

LENT SERIES CONTINUES. The word is spreading about what a wonderful Lenten speaker we have on Wednesday evenings. You might want to come for even a couple times to be revitalized in your hunger for the Living Word, our Holy Bible. The fine quality of worship services, soup dinners, etc. is also noteworthy. Worship begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel, followed by a soup and finger foods dinner. The program will be in the Parlor from 7:15-8:15 p.m. There is also a program lined up for the children.

 

PRESBYTERY’S SPRING FEST, is Saturday, March 18, 2006 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Capital University. Guest preachers include Rev. Teri Thomas and Dr. Otha Gilyard and the topic is “Worship: At the Heart of It All.” Cost is $8.00 per person. For further information please visit their website: www.psvonline.org. NEW BEGINNINGS, a group for all singles will meet next Sunday, March 19 in the South Parlor for a potluck luncheon immediately following the worship service.

 

DINNER TICKETS ON SALE NOW! The Annual Youth Fellowship Italian Dinner is March 25, 2006 and tickets are now on sale. The dinner starts at 5:30 with appetizers in the Narthex and continues in Fellowship Hall. We will have the usual fare of salad, spaghetti, garlic bread, beverage, and dessert. Ticket prices remain at $5.00 and children under 12 $3.50 and can be purchased on Sunday mornings in the Narthex or at the door. The profits from the dinner will go toward the Youth Mission Trip and Youth Programs.

 

NEXT INQUIRERS’ COURSE SCHEDULED for March 26, April 2 & April 9 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the Library. Session will meet with prospective members on April 9 prior to the worship service when they will be welcomed into the congregation.

 

THE PRESCHOOL ART SHOW & OPEN HOUSE is scheduled for March 26, 2006 and includes a silent auction. Members of Overbrook Church are cordially invited to visit the classrooms, enjoy the art, and bid on the great baskets after the church service.

 

HELP BEAUTIFY THE SANCTUARY FOR EASTER. Starting next week the sign-up sheet will be on the table in the Narthex for ordering Easter Lilies or Spring Flowers. New this year, you have a choice of ordering Easter lilies or a mixed varieties of spring flowers.  The price remains at $6.50 each and can be purchased in honor or memory of someone special or loved ones. Plants can be taken from the Sanctuary following the 10:30 a.m.
