FOR YOUR INFORMATION

 

CHILDREN’S BULLETINS are available for ages 3-6 and 7-12.  They contain fun, age- appropriate activities related to today’s worship.  The bulletins, along with pencils or crayons, can be found on the table in the Narthex, or by asking an usher for assistance.

 

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is wearing a yellow carnation, she will be available in the Narthex after worship to hear your concerns.

 

LISTENING ELDER FOR MAY will be available for listening in the Narthex after the worship service today. Feel welcome to convey to him any matter in our congregation’s life that you would like to have passed on to the Session.

 

A RECEPTION TO SAY THANKS!  Please join the Overbrook family at a reception in the Narthex following the worship service to express your appreciation to Sandy and Warren Powell for all their service to Overbrook. Sandy has resigned as Adult Christian Education Director, effective June 1, 2006.

 

HIDDEN GENERATION? Overbrook’s 20 and 30 somethings are invited to join a lunch-outing immediately following the worship service today. Meet in the Narthex and we will head to a restaurant for food and fellowship. The more the merrier! Help us to make these “hidden generations” more visible at Overbrook!

 

NEW BEGINNINGS, a group for all singles meet in the South Parlor today immediately following the worship service, for a potluck luncheon. Even though you may have forgotten to prepare a dish, you are welcome to attend.

 

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP GOES BOWLING TODAY. Meet in the Narthex after the service and we will go to lunch on the way to Mr. Bill’s bowling alley. Bring money for lunch and any snacks that you may want to purchase at the lanes. We will bowl a few games and then return to the church. Next week is 4th Night and we’ll discuss our mission trip and what we want to do on our day off. Meet at 6:00 p.m.

 

ROSE LUNCHEON TICKETS STILL ON SALE. The luncheon will be Thursday, June 1, 2006 beginning at 12:00 noon in Fellowship Hall. The tickets this year are $7.00 each and can be purchased at the table in the Narthex for the next three weeks. Bring a friend.

 

THE STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM SOCIAL is scheduled for June 4 in Fellowship Hall immediately following the worship service. The usual fare of sloppy joes, baked beans, chips, relish tray, drinks, and don’t forget, cake, strawberries and ice cream. The sign-up sheet for cakes is in the church office.  

 

GRADUATING? If you, or someone you know is receiving a diploma of any level of education, please sign up in the church office. We recognize graduates during the worship service on June 11.

 

ALL ABOUT US. The Membership Committee has had new brochures printed telling all about who, what, where and when we are. You can find them in the information rack in the Narthex. Give the brochure to a neighbor, coworker or other acquaintance who might be interested in learning about Overbrook –and invite them to join you at church on Sunday!

 

NANCY BY REQUEST CD’S ON SALE! Nancy Deeth and Marilyn are generously designating “donation” proceeds to establish a fund to allow continuing renovation of the pipe organ from time to time. We hope donors will make a benchmark contribution of $15 for each disc. CD’s are available in the church office.

 

REGISTRATION FOR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL is under way. Forms are in the church office. This year’s VBS runs June 19 – 23 and is entitled “Adventure of the Treasure Seekers” exploring God’s promises. The children will become archeologists searching for treasures.

 

HELP SUPPORT OUR YOUTH FELLOWSHIP GROUPS. You may purchase “Stock Shares” in our Mission Trip to Michigan at the table in the Narthex after the service today.

 

THREE SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY ON JONAH begins next Sunday. Reverend Leety leads the class from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the South Parlor.

 

FOURTH NIGHT TAIZE WORSHIP is next Sunday evening. Come join us for this very spiritual uplifting Taize worship service beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Parlor. The L.I.F.T. Groups meet from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. Rev. Linda McClanahan leads the Horizons Bible Study and the Faith and Fiction group will be discussing Hannah Coulter by Wendell Berry.
