FOR YOUR INFORMATION

 

CHILDREN’S BULLETINS are available for ages 3-6 and 7-12.  They contain fun, age- appropriate activities related to today’s worship.  The bulletins, along with pencils or crayons, can be found on the table in the Narthex, or by asking an usher for assistance.

 

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is wearing a yellow carnation, she will be available in the Narthex after worship to hear your concerns.

 

BIBLE STUDY ON THE BOOK OF JONAH began today and runs the next two Sunday mornings from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the South Parlor. The class is led by Rev. William Leety.

 

LAST DAY TO BUY ROSE LUNCHEON TICKETS. The luncheon is Thursday, June 1, 2006 beginning at 12:00 noon in Fellowship Hall. The tickets this year are $7.00 each and can be purchased at the table in the Narthex. Bring a friend.

 

FOURTH NIGHT TAIZE WORSHIP is tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.  The L.I.F.T. Groups meet from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. Rev. Linda McClanahan leads the Horizons Bible Study. The Faith and Fiction group will be discussing Hannah Coulter by Wendell Berry.

 

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP meets at 5:45 for dinner and 4th Night activities. Afterward we’ll go upstairs and discuss the Mission Trip and where to spend our day off. Parents are encouraged to attend. June 4 we plan to go to the John Beltz Retreat Center right after church for lunch and some leisurely activities.

MEN’S BREAKFAST GROUP meets this Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. at Scottie MacBean in Clintonville. All men are welcome.

 

F.O.O.D. SUNDAY is June 4. This month’s contributions go to Neighborhood Services. They request the following items: cooking oil, pasta helpers, pancake mix, syrup, soup, cereal, canned meats, canned vegetables, personal care products and household cleaning supplies. Place food items in the grocery carts in the Narthex along with register tapes. To donate money please use the large envelope attached to the cart for cash, or checks made payable to Overbrook Church. All donations are appreciated.

 

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS in Bill Leety’s office next Sunday from 10:00 – 10:30 and 11:30 – 12:00 noon.

 

PENTECOST SUNDAY IS JUNE 4. We come to the Lord’s Table and we receive the Pentecost offering. The sacrament of communion will be served and take up the Pentecost offering. Offering envelopes are in the pew racks.

 

WE NEED CAKE BAKERS! The Strawberry Ice Cream Social is scheduled for June 4 in Fellowship Hall immediately following worship. The usual fare of sloppy joes, baked beans, chips, relish tray, drinks, and don’t forget, cake, strawberries and ice cream. The sign-up for cakes is in the church office.  

 

GRADUATING? If you, or someone you know is receiving a diploma of any level of education, please sign up in the church office. We recognize graduates during the worship service on June 11.

 

TEACHER APPRECIATION BREAKFAST. There will be no Sunday School on June 11th. Instead, we will celebrate the end of the year and recognize our teacher volunteers in Fellowship Hall at 9:30. All Sunday School children and the volunteers who helped out this year are invited to attend.

 

NANCY BY REQUEST CD’S ON SALE! Nancy Deeth and Marilyn are generously designating “donation” proceeds to establish a fund to allow continuing renovation of the pipe organ from time to time. We hope donors will make a benchmark contribution of $15 for each disc. CD’s will be available for purchase and signing by Nancy in the Narthex following the service.

 

REGISTRATION FOR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL is under way. Forms are in the church office. This year’s VBS runs June 19 – 23 and is entitled “Adventure of the Treasure Seekers,” exploring God’s promises. The children will become archeologists searching for treasures.

 

HELP SUPPORT OUR YOUTH FELLOWSHIP GROUPS. You may purchase “Stock Shares” in our Mission Trip to Michigan at the table in the Narthex after the service today or mail back the one found in your June Overbrook World.

 

THURSDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY has changed their minds and will meet during the summer months at 11:00 a.m. in the Library.
