THE COOKIE MONSTER IS AT IT AGAIN. After the Trinity Lunches were made this past Sunday, there are no more cookies in the freezer. We prepare Trinity Lunches again on October 29 and November 5 so we need cookies. Keep the cookie monster satisfied by baking several dozen, marking them for Trinity and placing them in the freezer downstairs.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY DISCUSSION.  Rev. Leety begins a group discussion about the outcomes of our recent General Assembly. The group will meet monthly to look at the difficult decisions rendered by the Assembly, hear what is on one another’s hearts, and seek to discern a way to live faithfully as we strive to live within the Assembly’s direction. We plan to begin with light lunch in Fellowship Hall after worship today.

2006 BREAD FOR THE WORLD’S OFFERING OF LETTERS – OCTOBER 15

In 2000, the United States agreed to the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals. The goals represent an international commitment to cut world hunger and poverty in half by the year 2015. President Bush has pledged to double aid to Africa and globally by 2010. Now President Bush and Congress need to fulfill their commitments. On Sunday, October 15 Overbrook, along with thousands of other churches will participate in Bread for the World’s letter writing campaign. The congregation is asked to write letters to their members of Congress urging them to honor their commitment to feed the world’s hungry people. A letter writing station with sample letters and addresses of members of Congress will be available to assist you.

THE MEN’S BREAKFAST GROUP meets Tuesday, October 17 at 7:30 a.m. at the Clintonville Scottie MacBeans. All men are welcome.

SARAH CIRCLE meets Tuesday, October 17 in the Parlor at 9:30 a.m. The study will be Lesson 2 from the Horizons Bible Study, “In the Beginning Perspectives on Genesis.” We welcome new members.
