ARE YOU GETTING A FLU SHOT? Please do! Each year 110,000 people in the U.S. are hospitalized with influenza complications. Children 6-23 months and adults age 50 and over should receive an immunization. The best time to get a flu shot is Oct. – Dec. Kroger has an ample supply of vaccine this year. You may want to check your nearest Kroger store for times. They are taking you by appointment only to avoid waiting in long lines. Flu Shot Hot Line 614-437-2900 or www.vaccine4me.com. Questions call Sue Mooney 268-7207.

HATE COMMITTEE MEETINGS?  WE CAN REALLY USE YOUR HELP! With no church staff dedicated to computer hardware, software, networking or webmaster activities, we are at times looking for people to provide assistance.  We are currently trying to identify people with those talents.  If you are willing to be contacted about helping, please sign up on the sheet in the office, or call 261-1040 to be added to the list.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! The Properties Committee has scheduled the Fall Clean-up Day for Saturday, November 11, from 9:00 a.m. – Noon. There are leaves to rake, flower beds to be cleaned out and hedges to be pruned. Come for 1 hour or 3 hours whatever your schedule allows. Bring gloves, rakes and pruners.

WE SERVE DINNER AT THE YWCA FAMILY CENTER on Sunday, November 12. Sign-up sheets are posted across from the Parlor. Volunteers begin stew at 2:00 p.m.; transport the meal at 5:00 p.m.; serve from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and return to Overbrook by 7:30 p.m. Connie would like to see some new faces, and is looking for many volunteers to help serve the meal.

ADULT EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY.  You are invited to a special opportunity to consider how we as Presbyterians and Christians live out our faith by expressing it in our decision making as we go to the polls to vote in the November 7th civil elections. On Thursday, November 2, come hear Jim Wallis, author of God’s Politics and CEO/Editor-in-Chief of Sojourners/Call to Renewal, give an energizing talk on the eve of the election: “Voting Our Values and Demanding a New Set of Moral Priorities.” This evening is sponsored by Sojourners and begins at 7:00 p.m. at Broad Street Presbyterian Church. The gathering will also feature Rich Nathan, senior pastor of The Vineyard Church; Rev. Paul Sherry, coordinator of the Let Justice Roll Campaign; other local religious leaders and speakers; and gospel music from the Raymond Wise choir and the Raise Mass Choir. Anyone interested in car pooling can meet at our church around 5:45 p.m. that evening. We will leave at 6:10 for BSPC at 760 E. Broad Street. So come on November 2, sit with other Overbrook friends and be prepared for a memorable evening of prayer, praise, and gospel music. And don’t forget that on Tuesday, November 7, your voice can make a faith-filled difference.
