WE SERVE THE YWCA FAMILY CENTER TODAY. Overbrook is responsible for the second Sunday of each month to prepare the dinner meal, serve it and provide fellowship for the homeless families of Columbus. Look for the sign-up sheets on the bulletin board across from the parlor.

 

OVERBROOK COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE IS TOMORROW! It is not too late to sign up to donate blood or be a volunteer. The Red Cross will be here from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. The sign-up sheets are in the church office or you can call 261-1040. The blood banks are running low and we need your help and your blood too.

 

MARTHA CIRCLE to have their first meeting after the summer break on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. in the Parlor.

 

PHOEBE CIRCLE to have their first meeting on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. in the Parlor. We will be reworking the ornaments for the Chrismon Tree.

 

MARAFIKI SILENT ART AUCTION – SEPTEMBER 16 & 17. Overbrook joins with First Community Church to bring Marafiki Silent Art Auction back to Overbrook. Dr. John Nganga, Director/Founder of Marafiki Global AIDS Ministry, Inc. will return this month with African art objects to be auctioned off to benefit the 100 Kenyan AIDS orphans who are under the foundation’s care. The items for auction will be on display in the Narthex for bidding from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The winning bidders will be phoned between 2:00 and 4:00 on Sunday.

 

DR. JOHN NGANGA TO PREACH NEXT SUNDAY! John was a former interim associate pastor here at Overbrook and periodically returns to Columbus to preach. Please welcome John and support his calling of the Marafiki Global AIDS Ministry, Inc. with your prayers.

 

NEW BEGINNINGS, a group for all singles will meet next Sunday, September 17 in the South Parlor for a potluck luncheon immediately following the worship service.

 

SARAH CIRCLE will meet on Tuesday, September 19 at 9:30 a.m. in the Parlor. We will begin a new Horizons Bible Study for the year, “In the Beginning – Perspectives on Genesis.” All ladies of Overbrook are welcome.

 

PRESBYTERY OF SCIOTO VALLEY meets Tuesday, September 19 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Marion. Presbytery’s worship focuses on Peacemaking. Commissioners to the General Assembly make their report on the important work done on ordination, ordination standards, on divestment, and on the church’s commitment to mission.

 

PLAN TO ATTEND! The September 24 Taize Worship Service and other 4th night activities will be held at the John Beltz Retreat Center. Come and enjoy the relaxing music and prayers of the Taize service and the beauty of the fall leaves and mother nature that God has provided for us at the John Beltz Center. Carpooling can be arranged by calling the church office.

 

ARE YOU A GOOD HOST? The Reverend Malin Dahanga joins Overbrook for 6 weeks from October 6 to November 16 as part of Synod’s Mission to the USA program. We need people to host Malin for a meal or take him with you to the opera, art museum, Halloween storytelling or even a birthday party!
