Because You Live, O Christ
LIGHTING OF
THE CHRIST CANDLE
*CALL TO WORSHIP From Psalm 118: 1-2 & 14-17, 19, 24
The
Lord is my strength and my might, and has become my salvation.
Give thanks to God, whose love is eternal.
There
are glad songs of victory in the tents of the righteous:
“The right hand of the Lord does valiantly;
The right hand of the Lord is exalted;
The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.”
I
shall not die, but I shall live and recount the deeds of the Lord.
Give
thanks to God, whose love is eternal.
Open
to me the gates of righteousness that I may enter through them;
And
give thanks to the Lord.
This
is the day that the Lord has made;
Let
us rejoice and be glad in it.
*PROCESSIONAL HYMN # 123 Jesus Christ Is Risen Today
(Sing unison on verses 3 and 4)
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH From Peter’s sermon in Acts 10: 34-43 (NRSV)
With
Peter, we believe the message God sent to the people of
preaching peace by Jesus Christ, Lord of
all.
That message spread throughout
beginning in
how God anointed Jesus of
how he went about doing good and healing,
for God was with him.
We are witnesses to all that he did both
in Judea and in
They put him to death by hanging him on
a tree;
but God raised him up on the third day
and allowed him to appear, not to all
the people,
but to us who were chosen by God as
witnesses,
and who ate and drank with him after he
rose from the dead.
He commanded us to preach to the people,
to testify
that he is the one ordained by God as
judge of the living and the dead.
All the prophets testify about him that
everyone who believes in him
receives forgiveness of sins through his
name.
*THE PEACE
The
peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
Peace be
with you.
