*CALL TO WORSHIP from
Seasons of the Spirit, Congregational
Life, based in Ps. 1
Come,
let us follow the ways of God.
We will shun evil advice, not go with
those who ignore God’s ways,
nor listen to those who make fun
of God.
We
will not be tossed about like leaves in winds of popularity,
but will plant ourselves in the teachings of our God.
*PROCESSIONAL HYMN # 473
For the Beauty of the Earth
(Sing Unison on Stanza 5 after Brief Interlude)
*PRAYER ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND Chalice Worship
We
pray for all who suffer as a result of war:
For the injured and disabled, for the mentally distressed,
and for those whose faith in God and in other people
has been weakened or destroyed, we lift our hearts to you:
God
of mercy, hear our prayer.
For the homeless and refugees, for those who are hungry,
and for all who have lost their livelihood and security,
we lift our hearts to you:
God
of mercy, hear our prayer.
For those who mourn their dead;
for those who have lost husband, wife, children, or parents,
and especially for those who have no hope in Christ
to sustain them in their grief, we lift our hearts to you:
God
of mercy, hear our prayer.
(time for
silent, personal prayer)
O Lord, hear our prayer:
for the sake of our Savior,
Jesus Christ. Amen.
*THE PEACE
The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
Peace be with you.
(worshipers exchange words and gestures
of peace)
*PRAYER FOR OURSELVES
Chalice Worship
As
we remember those who died in war for the cause of peace:
Lord, make us peacemakers.
As
we look to the future of our children and grandchildren:
Lord, make us peacemakers.
As
we think of the war-torn, blood-stained, sorrowful world:
Lord, make us peacemakers.
Lord, hear our prayer
and come to us in perfect love, to drive away our fear;
in the name of the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
