*CALL TO WORSHIP FOR WORLD COMMUNION                                 Chalice Worship

We gladly join with fellow Christians everywhere:

To affirm both the freedom of our particular customs

and the spiritual kinship that we feel

with all who love the Lord Jesus Christ.

            The Psalmist writes

How good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity.

*THE PEACE

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

Peace be with you. (worshipers share words and gestures of the peace of Christ)

*HYMN # 488                                                                                 The God of Abraham Praise

*PRAYER FOR WORLD COMMUNION                                            from Chalice Worship

We praise you, Nurturing God, for feeding us at Christ’s table here and all the world around.  Patiently you plant seeds of faith, waiting to harvest the fruits of our lives.  Busily you grind the grains of our experience, mixing the dough.  Quietly, restlessly you yeast Christ’s church to life.

Bread of the world, in mercy broken,

We thank you, Nourishing God, for the strength we draw from the shared witness of

sisters and brothers who take with us this holy meal today.  Make us bold to seek

justice, and quick to act with compassion.  Shape us well, so that we become the

Bread of Life to those who need us.

wine of the soul, in mercy shed,

We rejoice in you, Surprising God, for your abiding presence.  Spark our imaginations that we share your dream of unity.  Open our hearts so Christ’s healing love may flow from your gathered church into a parched, thirsty world.

and by your feast to us the token,

We pray to you, Healing God, that your people find sustaining love at Christ’s table today.  Feed our spirits so that we work together as the body of Christ around the world; preaching good news to captives, restoring health to those in pain, proclaim your year of Jubilee!

that by your grace our souls are fed.
