*HYMN # 263                                                                     Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise

*CONFESSION OF WHO WE ARE                                                                      Carol Fleming

            Giver of darkness and light:

Yours are the height and depth, the fullness and emptiness,

                the sorrow and joy of life.

We limit you, God, thinking you’re present only in light.

We confess a blindness to your presence in the dark,

                and resistence to believing your word can be “no” as well as “yes,”

                that you close doors as well as open them.

            Forgive us. Heal us of mistrust which forgets that we are held in your hands.

 (a time for personal confession) Amen.

*HYMN # 345 (Verse 1)                                                       Dear Lord and Father of Mankind

*ASSURANCE OF WHOSE WE ARE                                                                    on Psalm 139

Darkness is not dark to God, for night is as bright as day.

    God is present in our greatest joys and deepest sorrows;

    in our glaring wrong and glorious right.

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

*THE PEACE

The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

   Peace be with you. (worshipers share words and gestures of peace)
