WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS

CHORAL INTROIT  # 522 (Stanza 2)                               Lord, When I Came Into This Life

     LIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE

*CALL TO WORSHIP                                                                                       from Psalm 34:1-4a

I will bless the Lord at all times; praising continually with my mouth.

My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad.

O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

I sought the Lord, and the Lord answered me!

*HYMN # 181 (Psalm 30)                                                                               Come Sing to God

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH                                                                     A Brief Statement of Faith

We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God.

Jesus proclaimed the reign of God:

preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives,

teaching by word and deed and blessing the children,

healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted,

                        eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners,

and calling all to repent and believe the gospel.

Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition,

Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain

and giving his life for the sins of the world.

God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life,

breaking the power of sin and evil,

delivering us from death to life eternal.

*THE PEACE

The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

Peace be with you. (worshipers share words and gestures of peace)
