THE LISTENING ELDER FOR AUGUST will be available for listening in the Narthex after worship. Feel welcome to convey to her any matter in our congregation’s life that you would like to have passed on to Session.

 

MEN’S BREAKFAST GROUP meets this Wednesday, August 22, at 7:30 a.m. at Tee Jay’s at Morse & High.  All men are welcome.

 

CELEBRATION GARDEN: When you get a chance, step outside the doors at the southeast entrance to the church building to see our Celebration Garden. The garden is lovely this year and is a quiet place to visit.  There are a couple benches if you want to sit and meditate. There is also a brick walk with pavers that have been engraved with celebration events and memorials.  Several new bricks have been added recently.  If you are interested in “purchasing” a brick, forms are available in the office.  The cost is $50 per brick.

 

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER ORIENTATION is this Thursday, August 23rd from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the Parlor. Go over the new rotation schedule and curriculum and meet the other teachers.

 

THANK YOU AND WELCOME TEACHERS  The Christian Education Committee is hosting a picnic and hayride for last year’s and this year’s teachers and their families at John Beltz Retreat Center on Saturday, August 25, 2007 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. CE will provide barbeque, hot dogs, and drinks. Please bring table service for your family and a side dish or dessert to share. If you plan to attend please notify the church office at 261-1040.

 

THE LAST JOYTIME is next Sunday, September 2 and is the responsibility of the Stewardship Committee.

 

F.O.O.D. SUNDAY is next Sunday, September 2. This month’s contributions go to Neighborhood Services and they have requested the following items: Hamburger and Tuna Helper, soups with lift tabs. Place food items in the grocery carts in the Narthex along with register tapes. To donate money, please use the large envelope attached to the cart for cash, or checks made payable to Overbrook Church. All donations are appreciated.

 

WE DO NOT PREPARE TRINITY LUNCHES for September 2 due to the Labor Day holiday. Youth Fellowship is responsible for making the lunches on September 30 for October 1.

 

NOTES FROM THE CHOIRMASTER! Have you ever thought to yourself, “ boy, I would really like to try singing in the choir!” or “ringing a bell sure looks like fun!” Well, do I have an offer for you!! Beginning September 6, the choir season at Overbrook is underway!! Come and join us for great music, great fellowship and lots of fun. If you have any questions please ask. Sarah Shaffer!
