FOR YOUR INFORMATION

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is wearing a yellow carnation, he will be available in the Narthex after worship to hear your concerns.

FLOWERS IN TODAY’S SERVICE are provided by the Worship Committee in observance of the first Sunday in Advent.

A NEW LOOK!  Today is the first Sunday in Advent, and you will notice a new look in the Sanctuary. The Worship Committee decided to refresh some of the Advent/Christmas decorations, incorporating the Advent liturgical colors of pink, purple, and blue into the theme.  A special Thank You goes to Sheila Jones, a member of the Worship Committee, and Doug Myers for donating their time and talents towards this effort.  Sheila specializes in liturgical art and Doug has his own interior design firm.  Next week the Chrismon Tree, decorated by the New Generations Group, will be displayed for all to enjoy. The Chrismon Tree was crafted years ago by Women of Overbrook, Circle #1.  On December 16, the live poinsettias purchased by members will be located throughout the sanctuary.  The Worship Committee wishes you joy and peace this Christmas season.

THIS FIRST SUNDAY IN ADVENT we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Loose plate offering goes to the work of the Deacons in their care for the congregation.

ADVENT DEVOTIONAL BOOKLETS FOR YOU are in the Narthex. Twenty three Overbrook members responded to the invitation to write a devotion based on an Advent carol or scripture to share with the congregation; hence this booklet. Thanks to all who responded.

CHRISTMAS CAROL BUFFET TONIGHT – The Fellowship Council hosts this event from 5– 7 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.  Take a break from hustle and bustle to enjoy an evening of friends, food, and seasonal music. Bring a dish to share that will serve 12-16. Ham, turkey, rolls and beverage are provided. The evening tops off with a Carol Sing–A-Long and a visitor from the North Pole. A Secret Santa Shop for children is back by popular demand, giving children a place to buy gifts for moms, dads, brothers & sisters, grandparents too! Gifts range from $1— $5.

TODAY IS F.O.O.D. SUNDAY. This month’s contributions go to Neighborhood Services who request the following:  personal hygiene items, baby food, baby cereal and paper products. Place food in the grocery carts in the Narthex. To donate money use the large envelope attached to the cart for cash, or checks made payable to Overbrook Presbyterian Church.

WE PREPARE TRINITY LUNCHES TODAY.  The Stewardship and Worship Committees make sandwiches, bag cookies and pack sacks for homeless men of Columbus. Meet in the kitchen immediately following the worship service.

POINSETTIAS FOR SALE!   DEADLINE DECEMBER 9.  Chancel Guild decorates the sanctuary with poinsettias this Advent season.  If you wish to order plants, sign up in the church office.  You may give them in memory or in honor.  Cost is $8. Donors can take plants from the Sanctuary after the 6:30 p.m. Christmas Eve Service.
