CHRISTMAS JOY OFFERING. Presbyterians have long celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ by giving generously to an Advent offering. The Christmas Joy Offering dates back to the1930’s when the PCUS began an offering to supplement inadequate retirement income and provide supplemental medical insurance for former ministers, missionaries, church workers, and their families. In the late 1940’s that became the Joy Gift. In 1989 the offering was renamed the Christmas Joy Offering, and in 1991 the 203rd General Assembly changed the distribution of funds to 50 percent to the Board of Pensions and 50 percent to the Presbyterian racial ethnic schools and colleges.

CHANGE OF TIME!  On Sunday, December 23, Westminster Choir rehearses for 15 minutes immediately following morning worship, saving a trip to church later in the day.

SECRET SANTA’S SUCCESS!  During the Christmas Carol Buffet Secret Santa Shop gave children opportunity to buy Christmas gifts. Shoppers had a good time.  We thank The Ellett family, Susie Belknap, Kathy and Lisa Irvin for being shopkeepers. A profit of $100 has been contributed to Youth/Adult Mission Trip 2008.

THE NEW YEAR IS AROUND THE CORNER and we need 5 additional ushers to welcome, guide worshipers to pews, distribute bulletins, and sometimes provide rides to members.  If you are up to the task, notify the office or call Dick Dull at 451-0295.  God calls us to serve?

THE 2008 FLOWER CHART for people who want to contribute Sunday flowers is in the office.  Dates are taken first-come, first-served.

GREETER SCHEDULE FOR 2008 IS BEING COMPILED.  We need a few friendly men and women, old hands and new faces, to welcome Sunday morning worshipers. Greeters are assigned 2 Sundays of the year.  If you’re interested either in greeting or in removing your name from the list, note it on the friendship pad or call the office.
