ADULT FORUM continues a series on “Other Faiths in the World”.  Today we welcomed Mr. Manu Bhatt from the Hindu community. Dr. Norman Hosansky, a member of Congregation Tifreth Israel, joins us on February 18th. This series will challenge us to think with our hearts, as well as offer Christian hospitality to our guests. As Presbyterians we are called to not just tolerate persons of other faiths, but engage them in meaningful and honorable dialogue. Hope you can join us as well.

 

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS TODAY location to be announced from 10:00 – 10:30 and 11:30 – 12:00 noon.

 

PEACE – UNITY – PURITY those wanting to better understand how the church is approaching the issue of the peace, unity and purity of our denomination are invited to gather for lunch after the worship service today at 11:45 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.

 

THE FUN BAND rehearsals begin today from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. and again on Sunday, February 18 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. They are gearing up for their semi-annual concert on February 25. For questions or to borrow an instrument, contact Sarah Shaffer.

 

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP TO SERVE AT THE YWCA FAMILY CENTER.  Youth

will meet at Overbrook after choir rehearsals and get to the center by 6:00. All other volunteers meet in the kitchen at 4:45 p.m. to transport the meal to the Center, serve from 5:45 – 7:00 and return home by 7:30. Check the bulletin board for items still needed.

 

MARTHA CIRCLE (unlike previously announced) meets this Wednesday, February 14 at 9:30 a.m.

 

OVERBROOK PRESCHOOL OPEN HOUSE originally scheduled for February 7 was cancelled due to weather and has been re-scheduled for February 14 from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.

 

HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO SING WITH THE ANGELS? Now is your chance! Beginning February 15 you can rehearse with the Chancel Choir as they prepare for their Easter Cantata, “The Risen Christ”. The cantata will premier on March 25 during the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 8:15 – 9:00 p.m.

 

NEW BEGINNINGS, a group for all singles will meet next Sunday, February 18 in the South Parlor for a potluck luncheon immediately following the worship service.

 

HEAR YE! HEAR YE!  In accordance with the bylaws, Session has called the Annual Congregation Meeting for February 25, 2007 following worship.  The meeting, in Fellowship Hall over lunch, is for the purposes of reviewing annual reports, setting the terms of call of the pastor, electing Deacons, and honoring Volunteers of the Year.

Those of us who work with the Marafiki Ministry on a daily basis wish to thank you for your generous and faithful contributions to our work. MARK YOUR CALENDARS! The beginning of Lent is fast approaching. Our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper is February 20 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Pancakes, sausage and fruit are on the menu. Then on February 21 we have an Ash Wednesday Worship Service at 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary, followed by a quick stone soup supper in Fellowship Hall and our guest speaker from 7:00 -7:40 p.m. in the Parlor. Hope you can join us. 

 

PRESBYTERIAN SPRING FEST is Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Drake Performance and Events Center, The Ohio State University, Columbus Campus. This year’s keynote speaker is The Rev. Dr. Donald McKim, Theologian and Author. Guest Leader will be Barbara Bruce, Author.
