WEDNESDAY EVENING LENT SERIES CONTINUES. This
Wednesday, March 14, we worship in the Chapel beginning at 6 p.m. The focus of the services is the Great Ends
of the Church, part of the Preliminary Principles of our Church; this week,
“the preservation of the truth.”
The great ends of the church are the proclamation of
the gospel for the salvation of humankind; the shelter, nurture, and spiritual
fellowship of the children of God; the maintenance of divine worship; the
preservation of the truth; the promotion of social righteousness; and the exhibition
of the Kingdom of Heaven to the world.
After a soup supper—bring a
simple dish of “finger food” to share—we meet in the Parlor from 7:15 to 8:15
to hear James Wilson, Stated Clerk of our Presbytery, continue probing the
historic roots of Presbyterian Christians, taking a close look at the Scots
Confession written by John Knox.
