FOR YOUR INFORMATION

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is wearing a yellow carnation, she will be available in the Narthex after worship to hear your concerns.

THE SACRAMENT OF COMMUNION is being celebrated today – Pentecost Sunday and as on all Communion Sundays, the loose offering goes to the Board of Deacons for their continuous care of the congregation.

TONIGHT IS 4TH NIGHT and the Taize Worship begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by Bible Study at 7:00 p.m. The Faith & Fiction Group will not meet this month as the book they were to discuss was not available yet. They will discuss, “Eat, Pray, Love”, by Elizabeth Gilbert in June.

THE MEN’S BREAKFAST GROUP meets this Wednesday, May 30th at 7:30 a.m. at Tee Jay’s at Morse & High. All men are welcome.

NEXT SUNDAY IS F.O.O.D. SUNDAY. This month’s contributions go to Neighborhood Services. They request the following: cereal, canned meats, hamburger and tune helper, spaghetti sauce and personal hygiene items. Place food items in the grocery carts in the Narthex along with register tapes. To donate money please use the large envelope attached to the cart for cash, or checks made payable to Overbrook Church. All donations are appreciated.

JUNE 3 WE PREPARE TRINITY LUNCHES. The New Beginnings Fellowship Group is responsible for making the sandwiches, bagging cookies and packing sacks this month.

SUMMER IS HERE AND THE TIME IS RIGHT for our annual Strawberry and Ice Cream Social, Sunday, June 3, at 12:00 noon. We have the usual picnic fare of sloppy joes, baked beans, chips, relish tray and, of course, strawberries, ice cream and cake!  We need donations of cakes—sign-up on the sheet in the office to let us know you’ll bake.

THE ROSE LUNCHEON, sponsored by the Women of Overbrook, is Thursday, June 7th at 12:00 Noon. Johnny Steiner will perform ‘S Wonderful. Tickets will be on sale in the Narthex today and June 3rd. Tickets cost $7. Hope to see you there.

WE ARE IN NEED OF A FEW MEN OR WOMEN who would be interested in being ushers. Due to health issues or retirement we need two volunteers for Team B.

SUPPORT OUR YOUTH by purchasing stock shares in the 2007 Youth/Adult Mission Trip to Pittsburgh. The workers will be commissioned during the worship service on June 10. They leave for Pittsburgh following worship to work with Hosanna Industries. Stock shares are available in the Narthex for $5 each.

IT’S NOT TOO LATE! We are still accepting registrations for Vacation Bible School. This year’s theme “Great Bible Reef” is just the place for cool crafts, fun songs, zany games, and a school of friends. This exciting opportunity for children ages 3 through 12 is June 18-22, 6:00-8:15 p.m. Take a couple forms to your neighborhood friends.

WE RECOGNIZE OUR 2007 GRADUATES on June 10 during the worship service. We would like the graduates to be present if possible and for them to sit in pews reserved. We have gifts to share.

YOU CAN HELP. We are still in need of baby food jars for one of the Vacation Bible School crafts. There is a blue container in the church office to put them in.

ADULT FORUM CONTINUES INTO JUNE. Let’s continue to learn together until June 10th. Our two speakers continue important conversations begun these last few months. Deb Bowsher discusses the PC (USA) Peacemaking conference held in Palestine on June 3. Bill Owens from the CRC talks about issues faced by seniors living in zip code 43214 on June 10.

SUMMER BIBLE STUDY OFFERED! Please join us beginning Sunday, June 17, for our summer Bible study of Exodus. Dr. Cheryl Hubbard will guide us as we travel through time to learn from the great journey that recounts how God formed the relationship with our Hebrew ancestors that is the foundation of our faith even today.
