WORLD VISION 30-HOUR FAMINE - WE DID IT!  Youth and leaders from Overbrook and Indianola Presbyterian Churches met our goal of $365 for the 30 Hour Famine.  This donation will feed one starving child for one year.  We were $46 short of our goal at dinner time Sunday evening, so Betsy Maurath challenged the youth to raise the remaining $46 by 7:00 PM and offered to let them choose her new hair color if they succeeded.  Be sure to watch for her new hairdo in the next couple of weeks!  In addition to fasting for the weekend, our Scavenger Hunt helped us collect several large boxes of non-perishable food items for CRC and Neighborhood Services.  Saturday evening we held a Candlelight Vigil, lighting 300 candles to represent the 300 children under the age of five who die every fifteen minutes from poverty, malnutrition, and other preventable causes.  We do not have to stop with $365, so please see one of the youth and make your gift before Thanksgiving.  Contact Betsy bmaurath@overbrookchurch.org if you'd like to make a gift in honor of a loved one.

COME SING PRAISE TO THE LORD!  You are invited! Now is your chance to give us a try and join us to make a joyful noise to the Lord!! The Chancel Choir invites those 18 and older to come and join us for “Lessons, Carols and Poetry” on Sunday afternoon December 16, 2007. We will rehearse on Thursday evenings from 8:15-9:00 p.m. beginning November 8, 15, 29 and December 6, 13 and then rehearse on Saturday December 15 with the instrumentalists. If you have ever wanted to be a part of the choir, come give it a try! If you have any questions, contact Sarah Shaffer.

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP SELLING CHRISTMAS WREATHS $18 each. Wreaths are 20 inches in diameter and come with a red bow and three pine cones. Buyers pick them up the Sunday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 25).  Order a wreath today or next Sunday in the Narthex.  Proceeds go towards the 2008 Mission trip and other youth activities.

A DEATH IN THE FAMILY?  Overbrook members who have experienced the death of family member or friend are invited to think together about “First Thanksgiving and Christmas” since the death of a loved one.  We’ll meet in the Parlor at 7:00 p.m. on November 14, to remember our losses, plan for holidays and hear from others engaged in this same chore.

FALL CLEAN UP DAY is November 17 (in sun, rain or snow, just like the Michigan game later the same day!) from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Rake leaves, clean flower beds, prune bushes.  Come with rakes, gloves and pruners, ready to make Overbrook look great.
