CAREGIVING SERIES OFFERED. On October 28 Adult Forum will present the introduction to a four-week series on “Christian Care-giving.” Led by Stephen Ministry, the series will present practical ideas, skills, and considerations all of us can use as we relate meaningfully to others in our lives. It will also address what makes care-giving “Christian.” If you have questions about the series, contact Jon Siehl, Judith Sandford, or Carol Bessey. Only the first session will be part of the Forum.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is wearing a yellow carnation, she will be available in the Narthex after worship to hear your concerns.

WE RECEIVE THE PEACEMAKING OFFERING TODAY. As we celebrate World Communion Sunday we join with Christians around the world to celebrate the unity that we find at the Table of the Lord. We also receive the Peacemaking Offering to support the efforts of our congregation, or synod, our presbytery, and our denomination to spread the peace of Christ. Twenty-five percent of the Offering will be used in the congregation for our peacemaking activities. The other 75 percent will help our partners in the presbytery, synod, and General Assembly as they work on behalf of God’s peacemaking in the world.

THE SACRAMENT OF COMMUNION is served today and as on all Communion Sundays the loose offering goes to the work of the Deacons in their continuing care in support of the congregation.

TODAY IS F.O.O.D. SUNDAY.  This month’s contributions go to Community Resources Center (CRC).  They request cereal, soups, canned meats, tissues, paper towels, baby formula and diapers, toothpaste and toothbrushes. Place food items in the grocery carts in the Narthex. To donate money use the large envelope attached to the cart for cash, or checks made payable to Overbrook Church. All donations are appreciated.

ONE SUNDAY WITH REV. LEETY begins today at 11:45 a.m. for those interested in discussing news issues related to debates over church & state.  We look through the lens of faith at Biblical resources and history in order to consider places where Christian ethical values meet current events.

ADD-A-COUPLE II will have a fall cook-out today - starting time 5:00 p.m. at the John Beltz Retreat Center. Hotdogs, buns, and beverages will be provided. Please bring a dish to share to serve 8. Come early if you like to go for walks. (after 3:00 p.m.)

MARTHA CIRCLE will meet Wednesday, October 10th  and PHOEBE CIRCLE on Thursday, October 11th, in the Parlor at 9:30 a.m. Please come help us plan our activities for the year! Bring a friend and some ideas.

INTERESTED IN TICKETS? The Gaither Homecoming Tour will be performing at Nationwide Arena on December 15, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. If you are interested in tickets please see Phyllis Nicholson or call her at 262-3088.

DEADLINE FOR THE NOVEMBER OVERBROOK WORLD has been extended to October 19th instead of the 12th (the secretary will be at a conference October 18-20th).  The October issue of the World was the first one to be sent via e-mail to members requesting it. It is not too late to receive the next issue via e-mail, just let the office know by phone or e-mail lellett@overbrookchurch.org.

IS YOUR CAR DIRTY? Bring your dirty car to church next Sunday and have one of our youth wash it for you. The car wash is open from 8:45 – 11:45 a.m. in the church parking lot. All donations go towards our sponsored children, Martin, Stephen and Wendy. There will be a brief worship service for the workers at 8:15 a.m. in the Chapel.

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS in Bill Leety’s office next Sunday, October 14th from 10:00 -10:30 and 11:30 – 12:00 noon.

WE SERVE THE YWCA FAMILY CENTER NEXT SUNDAY! Overbrook is responsible for the second Sunday of each month to prepare the dinner meal, serve it and provide fellowship for the homeless families of Columbus. We transport the meal at 5:00 p.m.; serve from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and return to Overbrook by 8:00 p.m. See the signup sheets on the bulletin board across from the Narthex for items needed.

AUTUMN LEAVES BIKE RIDE – Enjoy a leisurely ride along the Olentangy River and enjoy the crisp autumn air and changing leaves from a new perspective – from the bike path on your bike! If you are interested in riding the bike path, meet at the church at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20th. (The Buckeyes don’t play until 3:30 – you will be home long before that!) After pointers on riding safely in a group, we’ll head for the bike path! We will also consider other bicycling opportunities after or during the ride. Children must be accompanied by an adult. If you have any questions, contact Mike Johnson at 263-4869.
