Stewardship Committee will update progress on “Gifts for the Future” projects as they further Christian mission through programs and facilities. The Fun Band plays after lunch wrapping up at 1:30.

MEN’S BREAKFAST GROUP meets this Wednesday, October 17th at 7:30 a.m. at Tee Jaye’s at Morse & High. All men are welcome.

 

SARAH CIRCLE continues study of Hearing God’s Call in Jonah and Ruth from the Presbyterians Women’s Horizon Study Book – Lesson 2. We gather Tuesday, October 16, at 9:30 a.m. in the Parlor, reading Jonah chapter 1 as a reference to the “Reluctant Prophets and Faithful Foreigners”. Bring Bibles and join us for study and fellowship.

 

DEADLINE FOR THE NOVEMBER OVERBROOK WORLD has been extended to October 19th instead of the 12th. It’s not too late to receive the November issue by e-mail (phone or e-mail lellett@overbrookchurch.org).  10% of total recipients received World by e-mail last month at per-year-savings of $100 in postage and paper.

 

LISTENING ELDER FOR OCTOBER will be available next Sunday for listening in the Narthex after worship. Feel welcome to convey to her any matter in our congregation’s life that you would like Session to hear.

 

NEW BEGINNINGS, a group for all singles, meets for a potluck lunch next Sunday, October 21, in the Parlor immediately following worship.

 

AUTUMN LEAVES BIKE RIDE – Enjoy a leisurely ride along the Olentangy River and enjoy the crisp autumn air and changing leaves from a new perspective – from the bike path on your bike!  If you are interested, meet at the church at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20th.  After pointers on riding safely in a group, we’ll head for the bike path! Children must be accompanied by an adult. If you have any questions, contact Mike Johnson at 263-4869.

 

CRC’S ANNUAL PUMPKIN PATCH, a great family event, is Saturday, October 20, from 10 a.m.. to 1 p.m. at their building at 14 West Lakeview Avenue, Clintonville.  Bring 3 canned goods in exchange for a pumpkin. One pumpkin per child. We also have stations for carving, face painting, karaoke, apple cider press, bake sale.  Kiwanis hosts the grill.

 

JOIN US FOR BIBLE STUDY!  During worship in Advent lectionary readings come from Matthew’s Gospel. That focus continues through Easter and lasts for the remainder of the church year. With this in mind, a once-a-month Bible Study begins Sunday, October 21, right after worship in the South Parlor.  Study guides (cost $11 each) will be used.  Lunch will be shared. You may contact Deb Bowsher, the study group leader, for details.

 

ANNUAL FALL WALK at JOHN BELTZ CENTER – October 21, 2007 3– 6 p.m.  John Beltz Committee invites you  to the annual outing at the retreat center. There will be hotdogs, s-mores, hayrides, and hiking. Bring guests and a side dish to share. Come and see all of the improvements at the Center, and enjoy the wildlife.

 

CELEBRATION OF ALL SAINTS OCTOBER 28 IN WORSHIP.  We remember our saints, reading names of Overbrookers and those we love (friends, sisters, former teaches, etc.) who have died since last November. If you would like a name read, call or email Bill Leety or Lorie Ellett by Wednesday, October 23.

 

CAREGIVING SERIES OFFERED. On October 28 Adult Forum will introduce a four-week series on “Christian Care-giving.” Led by Stephen Ministry, the series will present practical ideas, skills, and considerations all of us can use as we relate meaningfully to others in our lives. It will also address what makes care-giving “Christian.” If you have questions about the series, contact Jon Siehl, Judith Sandford, or Carol Bessey. Only the first session will be part of the Adult Forum.
