THE ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING is next Sunday, September 30 immediately following the worship service. The purpose of the meeting is to elect officers and the 2008 Nominating Committee.

AS THE YWCA FAMILY CENTER approaches the 2nd anniversary of it’s opening, we invite you to join us on Sunday, September 30, 2007 for an “Ice Cream Social.” As an innovative center of excellence that transforms people’s lives, we could not do what we do without the generosity of community and faith partners such as those from the original Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN). We look forward to enjoying this special time and encourage you to share your wealth of experiences. This is our way of celebrating our work. Since we opened, over 1200 families have benefited from “our hospitality.” We will offer a tour of the Family Center so you can see the evolution of the Center and have time to meet new staff members.

THE FUN BAND IS COMING! THE FUN BAND IS COMING! WE NEED YOU!! Warm up those embouchures wet down those reeds. It is your chance to play some fun and good music. Everyone is invited to play – no matter if you haven’t had your horn out in years! It’s about making a joyful noise. We will rehearse on Sunday, September 30 and Sunday, October 7th at 1:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. We will perform after the Stewardship dinner on Sunday, October 14th. We’ll provide a stand and chair, all you need to bring is air!! If you need an instrument or have a question, contact Sarah Shaffer. The band is open to those with little experience or those with much. I am looking forward to seeing you in the band. Uniforms are not required.

A PROPERTY TAX BREAK? Richard Cordray, Ohio Treasurer of State, as alerted us to the recently expanded Homestead Exemption program. Homeowners who qualify for the program (senior citizens and the disabled) are entitled to receive hundreds of dollars in property tax relief each year. The program is available to all homeowners 65 years of age and older, and persons certified as totally or permanently disabled. In the past, the Homestead Exemption had an income limit for those seeking relief, but that income limit has now been eliminated. The key point here is that the program requires registration, and the deadline to register for the first round of property tax relief is October 1, 2007. There are copies of the application form in the church office; or information can be downloaded by e-mailing Mr. Cordray at treasurer@tos.ohio.gov.
