LIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE
*CALL TO WORSHIP from Seasons of
the Spirit/Psalm 19
The
heavens are telling the glory of God!
Their
beauty shows what God has done!
All praise to God the creator.
Each
day tells the next to the ends of the earth,
of
the goodness of God.
All praise to God the savior.
God’s
word is sweeter than the sweetest honey,
and
worth more than all the gold in the world.
All praise to God the sustainer.
With
our voices and our hearts let us worship God!
Let all creation sing for joy!
*HYMN # 256
Let the Whole Creation Cry
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION from Seasons
of the Spirit
God
of hope and community,
through baptism you unite us together in one glorious body.
And yet sometimes we turn inward, focus on our own wishes and wants.
Sometimes we fear that we have little to offer.
Sometimes we focus on our own suffering,
leaving others to fend for themselves.
Forgive us our self-absorption.
Clear away the cobwebs that stretch
across the lonely,
unused caverns of our hearts.
Send in the warmth and music of
fellowship in your Spirit
so that we may more fully love ourselves
and be restored to this loving
community from which we
have fallen away and for which we so
deeply hunger.
We pray in Christ’s name.
(time for silent, personal confession)
Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF WHOSE WE ARE & THE PEACE
God
tells us that all may take refuge in the shadow of God’s wings.
Despite the wrong we have done, God welcomes, forgives,
and loves us.
Thanks be to God.
The
peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
Peace be with you. (worshipers
share words and gestures of God’s peace)

Worship
The
Spirit of God is upon us.
God has anointed us to bear good news to
the afflicted,
to bind up the brokenhearted,
to
proclaim freedom to the captives,
to open the prisons of those who are
bound.
Amen
and amen.
Greet
one another with the shalom of Jesus the Christ,
who seeks peace in broken relationships,
who seeks healing in alienated persons,
who seeks justice in oppressive
structures.
Go
in peace.
