FLOWERS FOR TODAY’S SERVICE are given with best wishes for all teachers and learners at the beginning of a new school year.

 

JOYTIME TODAY is the responsibility of the Stewardship Committee. Next Sunday, August 31, the John Beltz Committee is responsible. Committees pick up curriculum packets in Room 101 the week prior to the assigned Sunday. Each committee provides a small snack. Drinks are in the Parlor kitchen.

 

SUMMER BIBLE STUDY of selected New Testament books continues today at 11:00 a.m. right after worship, meeting in the South Parlor for one hour. Cheryl Hubbard serves as leader for this exploration of God’s word.

 

THE LISTENING ELDER for August will be available for listening in the Narthex today. Feel welcome to convey to him any matter in our congregation’s life that you would like to have passed on to the Session.

 

NO 4TH NIGHT ACTIVITIES IN AUGUST. Join us again on September 28 for this meditative worship service. The Faith & Fiction Group is reading River of Heaven by OSU Professor, Lee Martin.

 

GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE! A Red Cross Blood Drive comes to Overbrook Monday, September 8th! The Wellness Committee is hoping for 45 units. There will be a table in the Narthex August 24, 31 & September 7 to sign up to donate. To lend a little fun to the day, everyone who donates blood will be eligible to win a prize.

 

CHILDREN/WORSHIP! Starting Sunday, September 7, worship packets will be available for children ages Pre-K – Grade 5 to use in the Sanctuary with their families during the service. Look for the tree in the Narthex where bags will be hanging by age group. Grab a bag for your child. Have fun and help children learn! Contents of the bag will change week to week, depending upon the lessons, sermons and special events during the church year.

 

SENIOR HIGH FELLOWSHIP - High School Fellowship (Grades 8-12) is happening this fall starting Sunday, September 7 with dinner at 5:45 p.m. in Room 33. More fun is coming Sunday, September 21 at 5:45 p.m. Be there to find out, bring your friends.

 

ADULT FORUM BEGINS AGAIN SEPTEMBER 14! There is a change in the speakers that was printed in the September Overbrook World. On September 14 Joyce Smith, past moderator of the Presbytery of Scioto Valley, will be our speaker and will talk about the recent actions at General Assembly. Steve Wedell, originally scheduled for September 14 will speak about the Symphony Orchestra on September 28.

JUNIOR HIGH FELLOWSHIP - Junior High gatherings (Grades 6-7) are coming to Overbrook this fall! Come for pizza and fun Sunday, September 21 at 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. in Room 33 upstairs.

 

CHOIR IS STARTING Sing? Who Me? YES YOU!! Now is your chance. This is your opportunity. Solo voices are not needed. Just the joy of making music and a positive attitude. Also, the ability to be at rehearsals! We need you! There are opportunities for all ages – 1st grade to post graduate. Please, come check us out! Rehearsals begin the week of September 1.
