worship to hear concerns.

TODAY’S SERVICE are given in loving memory of Earl Reed and Gilbert Barker.
THE LAST SUNDAY FOR JOYTIME: John Beltz Committee leads today. The Christian
Education Committee thanks committee members who planned and taught Joytime for
children this summer. Committee Chairs: Please return surveys to
Hope Boring’s mailbox.
SUMMER BIBLE STUDY of selected New Testament books continues
today at 10:30 a.m. right after
worship, meeting in the South Parlor for one hour. Cheryl Hubbard serves as
leader for this exploration of God’s word.
MEN’S BREAKFAST GROUP meets this Wednesday, September 3, at 7:30 a.m. at Tee
Jays Country Place (Morse & High). All men are welcome.
GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE! A Red Cross Blood Drive comes to Overbrook Monday,
September 8 12 to 6 p.m.! The Wellness Committee is hoping for 45
units. Sign up to donate at the Wellness table in the Narthex today and
September 7. To lend a little fun to the “bloodletting” committee members have
created a lottery with prizes: movie tickets, Cheryl & Co. cookies and a
Kroger gift card. Any donor wins! All who need blood WIN!
CHILDREN/WORSHIP! Starting next Sunday, September 7, worship packets will be available
for children ages Pre-K – Grade 5 to use in the Sanctuary with families during
the service. Look for the tree beside the drinking fountain by the stairs
leading to the second floor Sunday School classrooms. Bags on the tree are
arranged by age group. Grab a bag for your child. Have fun and help children
learn! Contents of the bag change each week, to match or supplement Scriptures
and events during the church year.
F.O.O.D. SUNDAY is September 7. This month’s contributions go to
Neighborhood Services who request cereal, pork & beans, canned pasta,
Vienna sausage, sardines, stew, tuna helper or anything with a pull-top lid.
Place donations in grocery carts in the Narthex. If you forget food, but still
want to contribute, there is an envelope attached to the cart for cash or
checks payable to OPC.
PARTICIPATE IN 2008 CARD PLAYING resumes Sunday, September
7, from 2-4 p.m. in the Parlor. Bring a deck of cards for the game you like to
play.
SENIOR HIGH FELLOWSHIP - High School Fellowship
(Grades 8-12) is happening this fall starting Sunday, September 7 with dinner
at 5:45 p.m. in Room 33. More fun is coming Sunday, September 21, at 5:45 p.m.
Be there to find out, bring your friends.
A NOTE FROM SUE MOONEY – Overbrook knows how to
put on a party! What a wonderful celebration! The worship service with choir in
beautiful new robes, the brunch that was amazing and all the people. How
thankful I am for a community that not only has supported a Health Ministry
program, but has supported me and my family over the last 41 years. Thanks to
all for the extra time and energy spent on this event.
CELEBRATION GARDEN BRICKS. We are putting together
an order to have bricks engraved for the Celebration Garden. Now is the time to
order your brick to celebrate a special event in your life – new child,
graduation, birthday, or just to celebrate and honor the life of someone
special. Memorial bricks are also available to honor the memory of a family
member or friend who has passed away. The cost is still $50 for each brick.
Order forms are available in the office.
THIRD GRADERS TO RECEIVE BIBLES. Overbrook presents Bibles
to children Sunday, September 14 during worship. If your child begins third
grade this year, please let the office know of your attendance and how you
would like the child’s name to appear on the presentation page of the Bible
given.
ADULT FORUM BEGINS SEPTEMBER 14! There is a change in scheduled speakers: September 14, Joyce Smith, past moderator of
the Presbytery of Scioto Valley, talks on the actions taken at the June 2008
General Assembly, then on September 28, Steve Wedell, originally scheduled for
September 14 speaks about the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.
