9:15 A.M. (Parlor) ADULT FORUM TODAY – Tom Burns of Perkins Observatory, gives us a tour of the universe and the ‘Christmas Star’.

10:30 A.M. WORSHIP (Sanctuary) Fun Sunday Worship Bags are available for children Pre-K – 5th Grade outside the Sanctuary doors.

 

WELCOME, VISITORS & GUESTS - Sign the Friendship Pad in the pew pocket; with your address and phone number.  Use a visitor nametag so that we can greet and welcome you. After worship, visit the Information Center in the Narthex. 

 

WORSHIP BAGS - Fun Sunday worship bags are available at the entrance to the Sanctuary for children Pre-K – 5th grade. The blue basket is for Pre-K – 2nd grade and the red basket is for grades 3-5. Please take a bag for your child and afterwards return the bag to the baskets.

FLOWERS IN THE SERVICE TODAY are given by in appreciation of the Chancel Choir and their dynamic duo of Nancy Deeth and Sarah Shaffer.

 

F.O.O.D. SUNDAY IS TODAY – This month’s contributions are for Neighborhood Services who need for personal hygiene products, such as toothpaste & brushes, deodorant, soap, shampoo, shaving cream & razors, and feminine products. Laundry detergent and dish washing soap are also needed. Place items in grocery carts in the Narthex.

 

POINSETTIAS ON SALE! The Chancel Guild decorates the Sanctuary with poinsettias. If you like to order plants in memory or in honor of a loved one, sign up on the sheet in the office. Cost is $8.00 each. Deadline to order is December 12. Plants can be taken from the Sanctuary after the 6:30 p.m. Christmas Eve Service.

 

CHRISTMAS WREATHS ARE HERE! Pick up your wreath at the Youth Fellowship table in the Narthex, before or after worship today. If you didn’t order a wreath but would like one, stop and buy extras ordered just for you.

 

FRIENDSHIP CHRISTMAS CONTINUES! Friendship Class hopes you’ll help fight hunger in our community by bringing canned meats, macaroni and cheese, chunky soups and canned veggies or personal care products to your committee meetings, choir or bell rehearsals, youth activity, Sunday school and worship this week. Without our efforts people do not eat. So far two full boxes have been given.

 

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP TONIGHT (Grades 6 – 12) - Tonight from 5-8 p.m. is the Christmaas Carol potluck dinner. Invite your friends. Santa needs helpers. Volunteers can also help with Secret Santa. On December 14 youth meet at church at 5:00 p.m. for a tour of the zoo lights. Bring your friends and some spending money.

 

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CAROL BUFFET IS TONIGHT! – 5-7 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Enjoy an evening of friends, food, and Christmas music. Bring a dish for 12-16 servings to share. Ham, turkey, rolls and beverage are provided. The evening tops off with a Carol Sing-A-Long and a visitor from the North Pole. A Secret Santa Shop for children returns, helping children buy gifts.

 

MEN’S BREAKFAST GROUP -  Meets Wednesday, December 10 at 7:30 a.m. at Tee Jays Country Place (Morse  & High). All men are invited.

 

DEDICATION OF HABITAT HOUSE at 549 S. Oakley on Saturday, December 13, 10 a.m., a Clintonville/Beechwold Dublin partnership homes. Ralph LeVan from Worthington Presbyterian Church has lead the building. Join in prayers, meet the Habitat family at a recently completed home.

 

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS – In Bill Leety’s office next Sunday, December 14, from 10:00-10:30 and 11:30-12:00 noon.

 

SESSION CALLS A SPECIAL CONGREGATION MEETING  - Sunday, December 14, 2008 in the sanctuary immediately following the morning service of worship; for the purposes of completing election of Elders and Deacons and of electing members of an Associate Pastor Nominating Committee.

 

CHRISTIANITY FAMILY TREE will not meet during December. Class reconvenes on January 11, 2009.

 

SERVE THE YWCA FAMILY CENTER DECEMBER 14 - Sign-up to supply food or serve the evening meal. Sign-up sheets by the Parlor bulletin board.  

 

FESTIVAL OF CAROLS AND POETRY! Join us as the Westminster and Chancel Choirs present Hal H. Hopson’s Sing Noel!, on Sunday, December 21 at 4:00 p.m. Invite your family, neighbors and friends.

 

CHRISTMAS EVE WORSHIP - The planets are stirring, the stars are gazing and the universe is in wonder of its direction. They are sensing something but, but.................will December 24 reveal an answer? What about you OPC, will you find the answer at 6:30 p.m.??  Perhaps this is your starry shining night! Come bring yourself, family, friends and strangers to experience your life changing before your eyes. It is important that cast members for the Christmas Play “Once Upon a Christmas Light” attend rehearsals, held at 9:30 a.m. during Sunday School in Room 101.

 

BLUE CHRISTMAS - Christmas can be a painful time for some. It may be the first Christmas without a beloved family member or friend. The loss may be a job or a home. For some it may be a time that has always been difficult. Overbrook’s Stephen Ministry is planning a “Blue Christmas” Service for all who seek solace and comfort. Join us on Saturday, December 20, at 3:30 p.m. in the church parlor. This short service will be followed by a time to share light refreshments. All are welcome. Bring a neighbor, friend, family member, or co-worker to find the Light That Was Given to All.
