DEVOTIONS, DEVOTIONS, EVERYWHERE DEVOTIONS! The Christian Education Committee is pleased to offer not one, but three, devotional guides.  Many members found the Good News Daily guide that was offered last fall a source of comfort and hope for their journey in faith. Others appreciate These Days booklets in much the same way.  Readers noticed how each reveals God from a different perspective. Both guides can be found on the coffee station table in the Narthex.  Both offer prayerful reflections for February and March and both will be updated and made available throughout the remainder of the year. In addition, you will find Surely the Lord is in This Place, the Presbyterians Today Lent Devotional Guide.  While it is especially created for Lent, the other two also offer faithful words that remind us of God's presence in our lives throughout the walk towards Easter.  Take one of each if you like!

LENT SERIES BEGINS – Wednesday, February 13 in the Parlor at 7:30 p.m. and continues on Wednesday evenings until March 12. The Rev. Dr. Brad Binau, Professor of Pastoral Theology at Trinity Lutheran Seminary, offers a five week series entitled “Elijah Comes First”. Dr. Binau brings insights on how the prophet Elijah’s life and work shape or ought to shape contemporary life.  Soup supper is served at 6:30 p.m. in the South Parlor.  A brief service of prayer is held in the Parlor preceding lectures.

WOMEN OF OVERBROOK BIBLE STUDY meets Tuesday, February 17 at 9:30 a.m. in the Parlor.

NEW BEGINNINGS, a group for all singles, meets Sunday, February 17, in the South Parlor for potluck lunch immediately following the worship service.

A TRADITION CONTINUES – Last Spring a group of Overbrookers enjoyed a Seder meal together for the first time in ten years. A tradition handed to Christians by Hebrews of the Exodus through Jesus, this Passover Meal celebrates a people’s shared faith and journey from slavery to freedom.  If you’d like to share this tradition again or for the first time by attending and/or preparing for the meal contact Marge Tibbetts at 268-5725 or Deb Bowsher at 309-0417or dbowsher@overbrookchurch.org.  Anyone wanting to help plan and organize should stay after church on Sunday, February 17th for a short meeting in the Library.

SESSION CALLS ANNUAL MEETING of the congregation for Sunday, Feb. 24, at 11:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.  Session will serve light lunch before the business of reviewing annual reports, electing officers, recognizing volunteers of the year, and considering terms of call of the pastor.

PRESBYTERY SPRINGFEST SATURDAY, MARCH 8, 2008 begins 9:00 a.m. at The Ohio State University Drake Performance and Event Center.  The theme is “Learning to be Missional Churches”.  Cost is $10 per person.  Register by February 29 with the Presbytery (847-0565 or www.psvonline.org.  Join members of the Presbytery of Scioto Valley for a Saturday filled with worship, music, presentations, workshops, bookstore, food and fellowship, (and a business meeting if you’d like).
