TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is wearing a yellow carnation, she’s in the Narthex after worship to hear concerns.

 

TODAY IS F.O.O.D. SUNDAY. Contributions go to Neighborhood Services who request: jams or jellies, Tuna and Hamburger Helper, canned pastas, all kinds of baby food, cereal and personal hygiene products. Place items in grocery carts in the Narthex.

 

FRANKLIN COUNTY PRESCRIPTION DISCOUNT CARDS. Along with others, Overbrook is distributing a free prescription discount card developed by the National Association of Counties, and funded by pharmacies and drug companies.  Card distribution is supported by United Way of Central Ohio and other partners. Everyone is eligible. There is no cost, nor age or income requirement. Cathy of the Wellness Committee is at a table in the Narthex today and next Sunday to give you a card (only 1 card needed per family). You can give one to friends or neighbors in English or Spanish. See Poster and Frequently Asked Questions about the program on the bulletin board.

 

ONE SUNDAY WITH REV. LEETY today is being postponed until July 6—complexity of “turning green.”

 

STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM SOCIAL TODAY RIGHT AFTER WORSHIP! Summer approaches, time for sloppy-joes, baked beans, chips, relish tray and, of course, strawberries, ice cream and cake!

 

ANNUAL ROSE LUNCHEON THURSDAY, JUNE 5, 12 NOON in Fellowship Hall. Andrea Cambern, local channel 10 news anchor, is the speaker.  Tickets are $7 and can be purchased after worship in the Narthex or at the door.

 

A CARNIVAL ENDS SUNDAY SCHOOL YEAR. Christian Education Committee celebrates the end of another fun Sunday School with a children’s carnival. Games, prizes, food & more. Come with friends, Sunday, June 8 from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m., Fellowship Hall.

 

RECOGNITION OF 2008 GRADUATES - June 8 during worship. If someone in your family is graduating, sign the sheet in the office or call at your earliest convenience. We would like graduates to be present and sit together in pews reserved. We have gifts to share.

 

GUEST PREACHER THE REV. STEVE RICE - June 8 sermon focuses on ministries of healing and wellness.  Steve serves as Chaplain with Palliative Care and Oncology Medicine at Riverside Hospital.  He is an ordained Lutheran pastor whose experience includes more than 20 years with Riverside, our partner institution in the Parish Nursing program.

 

RAINFOREST ADVENTURE is the theme for Vacation Bible School - July 14-18 (Monday thru Friday), from 6 – 8 p.m. Registration forms are available in the Narthex—take some for neighborhood friends. Help us with craft projects by collecting paper towel rolls for one of the craft projects, leaving them in a box in the church office. Volunteers are needed. If you’d like to help, contact Hope Boring, hboring@overbrookchurch.org or call the church office.

 

DONUTS FOR DAD ON FATHER’S DAY. Fathers and their children are invited to join the Christian Education Committee on June 15 at 8:45 a.m. in Fellowship Hall for donuts, fruit, beverages and fellowship.

 

SUMMER BIBLE STUDY begins June 15th at 10:45 a.m. right after worship. We will meet here at church for one hour on Sundays until sometime in August. Cheryl Hubbard will serve as leader for this exploration of God’s word.

 

VALUABLE, LOVED & USED BOOK INFO NEEDED!  Friends of Overbrook Library invite everyone to stop by the library to look over our current collection. If you see something you really have enjoyed reading and find valuable – or if you think something has particular significance for the church, please write a note for Deb Bowsher and place it in her church mailbox as soon as possible. We’re working to improve the collection and need your advice.

 

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP AUGUST 24?  On Sunday, August 24, Overbrook hosts several members of General Assembly's National Health Ministries, as they present Parish Nurse Sue Mooney the Assembly's Elise Woodward Stutzer Award.  Sue will be recognized  in worship (9:30) and honored at a festive "bruncheon" at Overbrook at 10:30.  If you'd like to help honor Sue, note your eagerness on the attendance pad or put a note in the offering plate

 

PASTORAL COVERAGE during Bill Leety’s and Jon’s Siehl’s vacation days during the coming week, other Overbrook staff and Presbyterian pastors of other churches are available to care for people in crisis or emergency.  Call Overbrook Staff to receive pastoral care.
