10:00 A.M. FELLOWSHIP TIME (Narthex) Sign-up for yummies on the Narthex table.

 

10:30 A.M. WORSHIP (Sanctuary) Fun Sunday Worship Bags are available for children Pre-K – 5th Grade outside the Sanctuary doors.

 

WELCOME, VISITORS & GUESTS - Sign the Friendship Pad in the pew pocket; with your address and phone number.  Use a visitor nametag so that we can greet and welcome you. After worship, visit the Information Center in the Narthex. 

 

WORSHIP BAGS - Fun Sunday worship bags are available at the entrance to the Sanctuary for children Pre-K – 5th grade. The blue basket is for Pre-K – 2nd grade and the red basket is for grades 3-5. Please take a bag for your child and afterwards return the bag to the baskets.

TODAY’S CONCERNED DEACON is wearing a yellow carnation.  She’s in the Narthex after worship to hear concerns.

 

FLOWERS IN THE SERVICE TODAY are given in memory of Cora Gibbs.

 

LUNCH TODAY?  Dick Sensenbrenner and the Board of Deacons invite Overbrookers for a bite to eat in Fellowship Hall after worship. Dick has provided fare from City Barbecue.  Deacons are bringing beverages and desserts…and servers.  Come and share fellowship around tables.

 

F.O.O.D. SUNDAY IS TODAY - This month’s contributions are designated for NNEMAP (Near Northside Emergency Material Assistance Program) who request: canned meats, soup, pasta, hamburger and tuna helper, paper products and personal hygiene products.

 

TODAY WE OBSERVE THE SACRAMENT OF COMMUNION - Loose offering, goes to the work of the Deacons in their continuing care in support of the congregation.

 

TRINITY LUNCHES TODAY- are the responsibility of the Wellness/Christian Education Committees. Meet in the downstairs kitchen following the worship service to make sandwiches, bag cookies and pack sacks.

 

ADULT FORUM PLANNING MEETING - meets today over lunch in Fellowship Hall at 12 p.m. to plan topics and speakers through next May. A table will be reserved for you.

 

VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST ON ELECTION DAY ARE NEEDED - In the event of long lines you will help people be seated in the building, serve them coffee or water and help them wait.

 

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP TO SELL CHRISTMAS WREATHS - The wreaths are 20 inches in diameter and come with a red bow and 3 pine cones. They sell for $18 and buyers can pick them up on November 30th.  Place your order in the Narthex today or November 9th. Proceeds support the 2009 Mission Trip.

 

ADULT FORUM  - November 9 we welcome Rev. David Bartley, Moderator of the Synod of the Covenant. He will discuss how the Synod and OPC interact. Rev. Bartley, who was baptized at Overbrook will be our guest preacher in worship that morning while Rev. Leety preaches at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Toledo where Rev. Bartley serves.

 

ADVENT MUSICAL – Christmas play/musical meeting is Sunday, November 9 at 9:30 a.m. in Room 101. This is for all parents and youth who want to participate in this exciting event on Christmas Eve at 6:30 p.m. If you want to participate and can’t attend, e-mail Hope Boring at shboring@aol.com.

 

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS in Bill Leety’s office Sunday, November 9 from 10:00 – 10:30 and 11:30 – 12:00 noon.

 

WE SERVE THE YWCA FAMILY CENTER NOVEMBER 9 - Sign-up to supply food or serve the evening meal. Sign-up sheets are next to the Parlor bulletin board.  Jesus says, “Whoever among you would be great must be servant of all.” 

 

BEREAVEMENT MEETING – NOVEMBER 10 - Overbrook members who have experienced a death of a family member or friend are invited to think about “First Thanksgiving and Christmas” since the death of a loved one. Meet in the Parlor at 7 p.m. to remember our losses, plan for holidays and hear from others engaged in this same blessed chore. Jon Siehl and Bill Leety lead. We’ll have light snacks and finish by 9 p.m.

 

LOOKING FOR WRITERS!! This year Overbrookers are invited to reflect on what this season of waiting means and to share those ruminations in the 2008 Advent Guide entitled “Expectations - Waiting Hopefully?” A sign up sheet indicating your intent to participate in this project is in the Church office. Deadline for submission is November 9. Submissions can be dropped off in the office or e-mailed to lellett@overbrookchurch.org or dbowsher@gmail.com. Please call Deb at 309-0417 with questions.

 

UPCOMING YOUTH EVENTS (Grades 6 – 12) - November 9 we meet at 12 noon for drive-by-raking of OPC members’ leaves. Bring a rake. We return to church by 4 p.m. No youth fellowship that evening. Then on November 16 we have movie night and rehearsal for the Christmas Musical.

 

FALL CLEAN-UP DAY - Property Committee sets Fall Clean-Up Day for Saturday, November 15th, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Mark your calendars now, so that you can help ready church property for winter. Bring rakes and gloves.

 

DIABETIC SCREENINGS NOVEMBER 16 - in the Conference Room at 11:45 a.m. These screenings are sponsored by the Wellness Committee.

 

PRESCHOOL PARKING LOT ATTENDANTS NEEDED! If you are willing to give 1 to 1 1/2 hours one day a week on a permanent or as a substitute fill in (especially when the snowbirds head south) please contact Ethel Hurley, Walt Beauvais or Dr. Joyce Matthews.
