WORSHIP BAGS - Fun Sunday worship bags are available at the entrance to the Sanctuary for children Pre-K – 5th grade. The blue basket is for Pre-K – 2nd grade and the red basket is for grades 3-5. Please take a bag for your child and afterwards return the bag to the baskets.

GIVE THANKS AND HELP – We welcome volunteers from Mid-Ohio Workers Association this morning. You’ll see them in the Narthex. Their catch phrase is: Pledge a turkey! Pledge an Hour! They represent a free and voluntary association of service workers who promote self-help and mutual aid to alleviate hunger and spread joy to over 200 families every December. They will be packing Thanksgiving baskets at Overbrook on Tuesday, November 25th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, they are here this morning to answer your questions and explain how you can help by volunteering your time. Stop and see them in the Narthex after church.

 

FREE DIABETES SCREENINGS TODAY - in the Conference Room at 11:45 a.m. These screenings are sponsored by the Wellness Committee to mark National Diabetes Month.

 

NEW BEGINNINGS, a group for all singles, meets in the South Parlor today immediately following worship, for a potluck luncheon. Though you may have forgotten to prepare a dish, you’re invited to attend.

 

CHRISTIANITY FAMILY TREE – We will not meet this Sunday, but gather next Sunday, November 23rd in the Library at 11:45 a.m.  We look at the similarities and differences between Lutheranism and Presbyterianism. Hope Boring, our resident Lutheran – will help lead the class. ALL ARE WELCOME!

 

YOUTH EVENTS (Grades 6 – 12) - tonight we meet at 5:45 p.m. in Room 33 to pack college student care packages, watch a movie and rehearse for the Christmas Musical. Then on November 23 we have Game Night and rehearsal for the Christmas Musical.

 

WOMEN OF OVERBROOK BIBLE STUDY GROUP meets Tuesday, November 18th in the Parlor at 9:30 a.m. We use the Horizon Magazine for our lessons each session. This month is Lesson #1 entitled “Jesus Announces Jubilee.” Scripture for the day is Luke 4: 16-30 in which Jesus proclaimed the long-awaited time of freedom for those oppressed by poverty and exclusion from the scroll of Isaiah. You are most welcome to join with us for a lively discussion. Note time is 9:30 a.m.

 

IT’S NOT TOO LATE! You can still be part of the choir when we present Hal H. Hopson’s Sing Noel!, a festival of Carols and Poetry, on Sunday, December 21, at 4:00 p.m. Rehearsals are on Thursdays, November  20 and December 4, 11, and 18 from 8:15-9:00 p.m. We will have a mass rehearsal with the orchestra on Saturday, December 20 at 10:30 a.m.

 

TENTH ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE - Neighborhood Networks 11 and 13 will gather on Sunday November 23, 2008 in the Living Room at the Forum from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Members of these two networks are invited to join in an afternoon of refreshments, activities and fellowship. Entertainment will be provided by The Clintonville Mothersingers. The Living Room is located on the east side of the Forum complex at 4590 Knightsbridge Blvd.

 

ADULT FORUM  - November 23 – Overbrook Member, Marcia Hershey, gives an overview of good Children Books for Christmas.

 

THE LISTENING ELDER FOR NOVEMBER is Patricia Soderholm. She will be available for listening in the Narthex after the service next Sunday, November 23.  Convey to her any matter in our congregation’s life that you would like to have passed on to the Session.

 

A FRIENDSHIP CHRISTMAS – The Friendship Class invites the whole church to help them befriend hungry people in our community by bringing non-perishable food items and personal care products to every meeting, choir rehearsal, youth activity, Sunday school class and worship service between November 30 and December 24. Together we can feed many hungry people!
