ADVENT GUIDE PREPARATION BEGINS NOW! Would you like to write a 100-250 word reflection for this year’s OPC Advent Guide?  It seems that as people of faith we are constantly waiting. Both Old and New Testaments contain many stories of hopeful, watchful, waiting. Even now we wait for the great in-breaking of God’s peaceable kingdom. Interestingly, during most seasons of waiting, our expectations rise and our hopes and dreams take on new dimensions. It’s now October and Advent, the high season of waiting, will be upon us in almost no time.  This year Overbrookers are invited to reflect on what this season of waiting means and to share those ruminations in the 2008 Advent Guide entitled “Expectations - Waiting Hopefully?”  Over the next few weeks please consider how scripture informs our waiting. Think about past times of waiting and how they might enable you to find deeper meaning. Dream about how others approach waiting periods and how they might come to grips with the expectations that build over those times. Remember how hopes and dreams were fulfilled – or not. Ask questions of past, present and future periods of waiting. Then set those reflections to paper – or an e-mail - and submit them by November 2nd to Deb Bowsher and Lorie Ellett so our printed booklet can be prepared. A sign up sheet indicating your intent to participate in this project is in the Church office. Please call Deb at 309-0417 with questions.
