ADVENT GUIDE PREPARATION BEGINS
NOW!
Would you like to write a 100-250 word reflection for this year’s OPC Advent
Guide? It seems that as people of faith we are constantly waiting. This year
Overbrookers are invited to reflect on what this season of waiting means and to
share those ruminations in the 2008 Advent Guide entitled “Expectations -
Waiting Hopefully?” Over the next few
weeks please consider how scripture informs our waiting. Think about past times
of waiting and how they might enable you to find deeper meaning. Ask questions
of past, present and future periods of waiting. Then set those reflections to
paper – or an e-mail - and submit them by November 2nd to Deb
Bowsher and Lorie Ellett so our printed booklet can be prepared. A sign up sheet
indicating your intent to participate in this project is in the Church office.
Please call Deb at 309-0417 with questions.
ALL SOULS DAY – November 2, 2008.
On this
day we thank God for the lives of our beloved who have died in the faith since
November of 2007. Give us names of those you would like remembered for the
bulletin. Either call the church office or mark the names on the Friendship
Pad.
OPC FALL OUTING! Sunday, October 26 from 3:00 –
7:00 p.m. at the JBRC. Get ready for pumpkin carving, hayrides, cook out and a
walk through the fall foliage. Invite your family and friends. Hotdogs, drinks and
s’more makings are provided, we ask that you bring a dish to share. If you
would like to car-pool to the retreat center, mark the friendship pad and meet
at the church at 2:00 p.m. Christian Ed and Properties Committees host this
event.
We are looking for a Guitar Player
to play campfire songs from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.?
Please contact Hope Boring at shboring@aol.com.
