*CALL TO WORSHIP & INVITATION TO GOD TO JOIN
US from Psalm 139
God searches and knows us.
Knows as we stand or sit, speak or keep
silent.
Where can we go to escape God’s Spirit; or get away
from God’s presence?
If we climb the heavens, God is there;
there too if we make the grave our bed.
Before
God’s mysteries we come in awe and gratitude:
For
the wonder of our lives; for the wonder of God’s works!
God,
search me and know my heart, probe me and know my thoughts;
Make
sure I do not follow evil ways and guide in the way everlasting.
LIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE
*HYMN # 417 Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation
*CONFESSION OF WHO WE ARE (Unison)
from Call to Worship
Forgive us Lord,
We know our guilt:
Seeds of discord grow in our hearts:
fear,
a consuming desire for things of this world,
anger.
We exercise power without humility, and confuse
knowledge with wisdom.
Merciful One: teach us obedience and faith.
Help us see your hand at work in the world,
guiding us to wholeness, tending us in love.
(time for
silent, personal confession) Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF WHOSE WE ARE &
THE PEACE from
Romans 10: 5-15
God is generous to all who call on God.
The word is near to us, on our lips
and in our hearts.
Everyone who calls on the name of
the Holy God shall be saved.
Thank God!
The peace of our Lord Jesus
Christ be with you all.
Peace be with you.
(worshipers exchange words and gestures of the peace of Christ)
